AMC Networks’ Acorn TV and TVNZ have announced the commissioning of a 6-part New Zealand romantic comedy titled Under the Vines. The drama is created and co-written by Erin White with Rebecca Gibney and Charles Edwards staring as two city slickers who inherit a failing vineyard in rural New Zealand.
The only problems are that neither has ever done a hard days’ work and they despise one another. Nevertheless, they’ll need to settle their differences and work together to transform the vineyard into a success so they can sell it, split up the proceeds, and get out of dodge. Production is scheduled to begin in early February 2021 in beautiful Central Otago, New Zealand.
Acorn TV maintains all rights worldwide with the exception of TVNZ in New Zealand. The world premiere will be featured on Acorn TV in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and others in 2021 followed by TVNZ in New Zealand. The 6-part series packs a powerful cast with the likes of Robbie Magasiva (Wentworth), Sara Wiseman (A Place to Call Home, The Sounds), Dean O’Gorman, Simon Mead, Carrie Green, Cohen Holloway (Top of the Lake), John Bach, and Matt Whelan.
Rebecca Gibney stars as the socialite from Sydney who leads a charmed like that dramatically changes when her monthly allowed from her estranged and deceased stepfather dries up. She only has one fortune left and that is a vineyard in New Zealand. She intends to travel to New Zealand, get a real estate agent, and quickly sell the property. However, she soon learns that the vineyard has a co-owner in the form of a grumpy lawyer, Louis Oakley (Charles Edwards), from the United Kingdom.
Louis too wishes to sell the property and get his back on track. Under the Vines is expected to air sometime in 2021. Stay tuned to Reel Mockery news to keep up with the latest from Acorn TV and other streaming providers.
