Totally Completely Fine Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

series 1 episode 3 vivian hendrix totally completely fine

Juan De Vacaciones – As the third episode of Totally Completely Fine begins, Vivian Cunningham (Thomasin McKenzie) has a dream about her parents’ accident. When she gets up, she goes outside where a woman is getting ready to jump from the ledge. The woman tells Vivian that she has been strangled. Amy (Contessa Treffone) is sent inside to call for an ambulance. Vivian learns that the woman is a lawyer who is meant to be in court soon. She is worried that she will no longer be fearsome if she goes into the courtroom like this. The woman says she is ashamed so Vivian should just let her go. Vivian is ashamed. She pretends she is going to follow the lawyer’s lead.

Vivian convinces the woman to show her the bruises on her neck. She learns that the woman’s name is Caitlin. Alejandro (Edgar Vittorino) arrives with the ambulance and quickly begins helping Caitlin. Before he leaves with Caitlin, he tells Vivian that he’ll see her later. Vivian asks Amy when the twin flame is picking her up. Amy says after work. Later, they hear a knock on the door and immediately realize that they forgot the ashes ceremony. Amy opens the door so John and Hendrix (Brandon McClelland) can come inside. Vivian rushes to find a way to fill the urn. When Louis (Max Crean) arrives, Amy pretends he is the guest of honor to keep the brothers busy.

Eventually, John barges inside. Vivian claims she kept the ashes in the backyard. John wants to wait for Alejandro to arrive before they do anything. Once Alejandro arrives, he tells Vivian that she was amazing this morning. He tells John that his sister saved a life this morning. Before the ceremony begins, Alejandro changes into his special suit. Then, they go outside and Hendrix begins speaking about Walt. John wants to say something as well. He tells everyone how Walter taught him how to live in the little ways. He realizes that the urn isn’t filled with ashes. Once they go inside, John angrily tells everyone that the urn is filled with chocolate mix.

He chugs it to prove he is telling the truth. Vivian confesses that she bulked it up with hot chocolate mix. She apologizes to John and tells him about Beatrice. They soon realize that Hendrix set up the ashes ceremony and lied to them. John admits he actually thought Vivian had changed. He claims it is always her fault. Vivian thinks about her father saying he is going to sue her. John tells her he has had enough so he is going to sue her for burning down his truck. Alejandro tells Vivian that it was a beautiful ceremony until the screaming. Once they leave, Vivian decides to get drunk since the new her doesn’t exist according to John. She calls Hendrix Vendrix, but he says he needs to go home and see Laura.

George comes inside and says hello to Amy. She tells George that she needs to stay for a drink because Vivian needs a designated friend. Vivian mentions that they used to call Hendrix the animal because he’d party so hard. George manages to convince Hendrix to stay around for a drink. Vivian takes his phone and tells him not to text b!tches. Hendrix asks her not to call Laura a b!tch. He tells George about winning state champs. George reveals he runs the app called The Well although it was Amy’s idea. He explains that it finds all the wellness classes in their area and rates them. George says it is tailored for men. Vivian is glad they’re empowering men. George says it is their dream.

Vivian checks on Amy who isn’t talking constantly. Amy claims she is just having fun. As they continue drinking, Viv recommends playing Never Have I Ever. Dane comes over for training. He offers to reschedule the session. Viv tells him to stay because she’d pay good money to see him play Never Have I Ever. Alejandro complains about John leaving him and having to walk. As the others continue playing, Viv suspects George isn’t even that drunk. They begin laughing about the hot chocolate mix incident. Hendrix mentions having sex with more than one person. George suspects Dane is a virgin. He thinks Insane Dane likely gets around. Dane tries to calm down in private.

Amy checks on him. Dane insists he has sex all the time. George bothers him so Amy tells him he needs to be more careful with people sometimes. He apologizes and says he doesn’t know what is going on here. George reminds her she said she wanted to marry him before running away. Amy tells him how she found Vivian. George has been reading about twin flames. It says it can be hard at first because they mirror each other. George admits the house has been like an ice box without her. He is willing to wait for her as long as it takes. Vivian tries to talk to Hendrix about George, but he ends up crying about being ugly. He claims Laura isn’t attracted to him anymore although Viv quickly refutes that.

Hendrix says everything was fine until last year, but Laura can’t even look at him now. Hendrix claims something happens to your body when you have kids so he has let himself go. Hendrix wishes he could talk to his mom about these things. Vivian tells him to just grab her and screw her without getting caught up in stupid conversations. Hendrix’s family is everything he ever wanted so he doesn’t want to blackout from them. George turns on music and dances with Amy until Vivian decides to turn it off. They dance on the table until it breaks. Vivian finds Dane outside trying to stop himself from being sick. Viv thinks he should just let it come out.

She gags herself to try to get him to throw up. Even after she throws up, Dane doesn’t want to. Viv tells him to come back inside once he is done. They agree that the George guy is not nice. Once Vivian goes inside, Dane does end up vomiting. George approaches Viv to thank her for taking care of Amy who can be a bit much. He admits he doesn’t believe the stuff Amy is saying. Vivian knows he has been pretending to drink the whole night. She tells him to go home and f!ck off because she is the alpha here. Once he grabs her arm, she tells him to get out again. Alejandro tells John he searched every Kebab Kastle in Sydney to find him. John thinks Alejandro is leaving him so he is giving him time to do that.

Alejandro says he loves all parts of John even those that aren’t on holiday. John claims he is never the priority although Alejandro says John is his priority. Alejandro says what happened today was crazy. John isn’t ready to talk about his sister. Vivian tells Amy that she can stay and doesn’t have to go with George. Amy says he never hit her. She sometimes thinks George is right about her. Amy hugs Viv. Seconds later, Vivian finds Hendrix and Dane sleeping in the bathroom. She makes Dane comfortable. After giving Hendrix a piece of bread, Vivian asks whether he thinks John is really going to sue her. He is too drunk to have a conversation with her.

Totally Completely Fine Review

The third episode of Totally Completely Fine didn’t add a lot to the main story and instead attempted to make viewers laugh with over-the-top humor. Unfortunately, the humor is probably the least successful aspect of Totally Completely Fine and it has taken up too much time already. Every viewer is different so some may enjoy this type of humor, but it hasn’t worked for me in the least.

As the series continues, the story is lacking so the show is starting to feel a little shallow. The premise had the potential to be spectacular, but that was really thrown out of the window when they decided to delve too deep into the juvenile humor. Where are the heartfelt stories and the people Vivian is supposed to be saving?

Those things have been glanced over while the series has focused too much on drunken stupors and vomiting scenes that could’ve been found in any other silly show. Instead, we’re left hoping and waiting for the series to get to the point and provide some emotional significance. If it can do that, it might be possible to forgive these obnoxious episodes which add very little to the story.

Otherwise, it’ll be totally, completely fine to skip this series. The episode scores a 4.5 out of 10. Recaps of Totally Completely Fine are available on Reel Mockery here. Find out how to support our independent site at this link. Learn more about advertising with us here.
