As the episode begins, Hannah (Nicola Walker) has breakfast with Nathan (Stephen Mangan) and the kids. After the intro, Hannah is at work. Rose (Fiona Button) tries to call her, but Hannah doesn’t answer. Hannah finds that the office place is overcrowded with people. The famous footballer Diallo Diapo (Thierry Mabonga) is there to get a prenup with his soo to be wife Kelsey (Chanel Cresswell). Hannah learns all about the case from Christie (Barry Atsma). Diapo’s lawyer turns out to be Christie’s ex-wife, Lauren (Ruth Bradley). They’re unable to come to terms. Ruth (Deborah Findlay) meets with Oscar (Anthony Head). Ruth learns that Maya is in New York. She doesn’t find out why he is really there though. Rose and Nina (Annabel Scholey) look up pictures of Oscar. Ruth enters and interrupts them.
Nina and Rose plan on seeing Oscar later that day. The meeting between Kelsey and Diapo ends without a conclusion. Hannah speaks with Kelsey alone. She encourages her to do what she can to protect herself and her future. Christie tells Hannah that he didn’t want kids. Lauren did. Hannah admits that Nina doesn’t either, so they should be perfect together. Hannah gets a text from Nina inviting her to the meeting with Oscar. Nina encourages her mother to come to Rose’s dress fitting, since it might be the last one she will have. Ruth shows no interest. Goldie (Meera Syal) and Davey (Stephen Tompkinson) get a visit from their daughter. Hannah looks at the documents Ruth provided from the Davey case. She believes something fishy is going on. Hannah meets with Nina and Rose at the dress shop. They help Rose pick out a gorgeous dress for her wedding.
Then, the girls meet with Oscar. Rose takes to him right away. Nina does her best to play nice. Hannah doesn’t even bother. She storms off. Nina tries to calm her down in the bathroom. Nevertheless, Hannah ends up leaving early. Hannah becomes distracted by the event. When Hannah prepares to leave, she spots Christie with Lauren. When she finally makes it home, Hannah and Nathan suspect their oldest daughter might be having intercourse. Later that night, Hannah tells Nathan about her father. She explains that Oscar ran off with their 24-year-old nanny Maya. Christie contemplates texting Hannah, but doesn’t. She watches her phone. Nina gets stood up. Hannah gets a text from Maggie (Ellora Torchia) in the morning. Hannah learns that Kelsey has hit the tabloids. She is being accused of sleeping with others. Kelsey denies everything. Diapo is ready to break off the wedding. Lauren wants a confidentiality agreement to be signed.
Hannah speaks with Lauren. Then, she tells Maggie to get in touch with her latest boyfriend and look for other similar agreements. Goldie tries to remove her wedding ring, but cannot. Kelsey gives the wedding ring to Hannah. She wants Diapo to have it back. Hannah speaks with Goldie. She learns that Davey is trying to hide some of his assets. They agree to have a forensic accountant search the home. Nathan arrives at the office to work on a fertility case. Davey is not happy to have to pay so much for the forensic accountant. Ruth and Hannah argue about the case. They also chat about Oscar. James (Rudi Dharmalingam) and Rose speaks at the church. It is clear that they have lots of differences. Hannah speaks with her daughter. She promises that she is not having sex. The following day, Hannah learns that Diapo has had 5 other confidentiality agreements and not all of them happened before Kelsey. Hannah wants Kelsey to have everything she wants. Lauren admits Christie didn’t want kids with her, but maybe with someone else like Hannah.
Nina listens as Oscar speaks with Ruth. He explains that he wants to sell his stake in the company’s law firm. Or, he wants to be bought out. To do that, he needs signatures from all of the girls. Kelsey learns about Diapo. Hannah convinces her to sign the documents. Diapo is happy to be getting married. Goldie speaks with her daughter about Davey. Hannah speaks with Davey. She insists that their thing needs to end. It is also revealed that they slept together before Hannah’s wedding. Christie admits he didn’t have a date with Nina. He never showed. Rose pulls a pearl from her wedding dress. She begins tearing it up. Goldie drinks tons of alcohol at home. Hannah hears a weird noise coming from her daughter’s room. Nathan is already asleep. Christie visits Nina. She explains that someone is with her. She is lying.
The Split Review
This episode of The Split was a little better than the previous one. Things are starting to pick up. We know why Oscar left home. We also learned that pretty much everyone is experiencing problems. Hannah seems to be questioning her relationship with Christie. Rose isn’t sure about her marriage. Nina is having relationship troubles in general. We also learned why Oscar returned. The show is starting to develop. Hopefully it’ll get better from here on out. The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of The Split right now.
