Despite the positive sentiment from critics, BBC’s The Last Kingdom has had a rocky first two seasons. The first series aired on BBC America and BBC Two. BBC America dropped from the scene leaving BBC Two to cooperate with Netflix for the second series. Now, The Last Kingdom is set to return exclusively on Netflix. The 3rd series will be available for streaming on November 19, 2018.
The series stars Alexander Dreymon as Uhtred. Uhtred is driven by the desire to reclaim his lands. Soon though, he finds himself working for King Alfred (David Dawson). With Uhtred’s knowledge of the enemy, Alfred is able to conquer the Danes. The second series wrapped up on May 4, 2017.
The third series will have a few changes. Swedish actor Ola Rapace is set to join the cast as Jarl Harald Bloodhair. Swedish director Erik Leijonborg was behind the camera. In the third series, war is coming and King Alfred is afraid his demise is near. Alfred will look to give the crown to his reluctant son.
Fans of The Last Kingdom will definitely want to check out the new season on November the 19th!
