As the episode begins, the family gathers for breakfast. Spiros (Alexis Georgoulis) pays them a visit. He tells them about the Ferrari family who has just moved to Corfu. After the intro, he tells Larry (Josh O’Connor) and Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) that the fire brigade needs volunteers. Louisa (Keeley Hawes) doesn’t like the idea, but Larry and Leslie do. Louisa goes spying on the new family. The father, Guido (Luca Calvani), catches her. She learns about their family and is invited over. Leslie and Larry speak with the fire chief (Vasilis Vasilakis). They will need to take a physical test before being added to the team. Theo (Yorgos Karamihos) and Gerald (Milo Parker) go hunting for a vulture. They run into Galini (Olivia Lebedeva-Alexopoulou). Gerald is quickly enamored by her.
Then, the family prepares for their date with the Ferraris. Paolo (Sebastiano Kiniger), Clara (Antonia Desplat) and Violetta (Fabienne Piolini-Castle) are very classy. The Durrells are somewhat of a mess. Margo (Daisy Waterstone) is obsessed with Clara’s looks. After the dinner, Louisa insists they’ll need to be perfect when the Ferraris visit their house. Next, Larry and Leslie undergo the physical test. Larry passes, but Leslie fails. The Ferraris visit. Things do not go much better for the Durrells this time around. Guido tells Louisa that he would like her to mentor her daughter. He also wants Leslie to teach Paolo how to sail. Spiros gets into an argument with Louisa, because he is spending too much time with the new family. Louisa speaks with Larry about her fight with Spiros. The following day, Gerald and Galini look at turtles. Theo interrupts with fun facts about the turtle’s shell. At the clinic, Margo speaks with Florence (Lucy Black) about her wish to be beautiful.
The girls begin their training with Louisa. Leslie tries to teach Paolo how to sail. Paolo takes Leslie’s gun and shoots it into the water. Theo interrupts Galini and Gerald once again. Larry attends a meeting for the fire brigade. He tells the chief about some modern technologies that could be beneficial to them. Gerald tells Louisa that he wants to spend time with Galini without Theo. He is told that he should tell Theo directly. Leslie enters and explains that something is wrong with the Ferrari family. Larry arrives in his new gear. The next day, Gerald manages to tell Theo about his wishes. Theo accepts it well. The Ferrari girls are given instructions for caring for a baby. Leslie now has Louisa questioning the family as well. Larry learns that the fire department is installing new equipment just like he wanted.
Louisa speaks with Guide directly. He insists that he wanted his kids to find their way. Spiros enters and Louisa leaves. She watches them from a distance. At the clinic, Theo tells Margo about an upcoming event that could fulfill her wishes. She just needs to kiss the slippers of a dead body. A fire finally breaks out. Two of the firemen are injured and out right away. Paolo and Larry are forced to work together. Louisa learns that Spiros gave Guido money. They agree not to fight with one another ever again. Larry tries to speak with Paolo, but the boy doesn’t say much. Margo kisses the slipper and makes her wish. During dinner, the family gets a visit from Theo. He tells them the rumor that Paolo ran down an elderly man and killed him. That is why the family fled to Corfu. The following day, Louisa tells Clara and Violetta that she can no longer instruct them. She manages to get the truth out of them. She learns that their father is a bully.
Larry resigns from the fire brigade. Then, he speaks with Paolo about the incident. He eventually discovers that Guido was driving the car at the time and Paolo was forced to take the blame. Louisa gets a visit from Guido. She confronts him about the incident. They get into an argument. Then, Larry and Paolo arrive. They encourage Paolo to tell the truth. Galini and Gerald arrive before the Ferrari family leaves. Louisa takes the car back to Spiros. Margo gets sick from kissing the slipper. The following day, Clara, Paolo and Violetta visit the Durrells. They explain that they’re going to go home and tell the truth. They also give Louisa Guido’s belongings to pay back Spiros. Outside, Gerald tries to kiss Galini. The bird stops him from doing so.
The Durrells In Corfu Review
This season of The Durrells has been pretty deep. This episode was no different. It was interesting to see Spiros and Louisa arguing with one another. It was also fun to see Gerald get a little friend. The fire brigade stuff was pretty funny as well. All in all, the episode was enjoyable. It scores an 8 out of 10.
