At the start of the episode, we discover that the Durrells have new guests. They are two homosexual men from America. Argos the postman (Alexandros Zouridakis) visits with letters. He seems to think the family is a little odd. Louisa (Keeley Hawes) and Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) chat about Spiros and his wife possibly getting divorced in the future. Meanwhile, Maud (Madeline Holliday) proves to be a terror for Margo (Daisy Waterstone). Theo (Yorgos Karamihos) is confident that Margo will break her. He tells Louisa this. He also admits that the locals may think that the Durrells and their guests are awkward.

Lawrence (Josh O’Connor) writes to the family from elsewhere. Gerald (Milo Parker) learns that Galini (Olivia Lebedeva-Alexopoulou) has been hanging out with an older boy who has a motorbike. He is very jealous. Louisa and Spiros become worried about him. Gerald doesn’t even want to feed his animals. He doesn’t want a bloody lolly either. Maud’s mother asks Margo to watch after her daughter for a week. Margo is forced to accept her offer. Louisa and Leslie speak about Dimitra (Marina Aslanoglou) possibly having an affair. Leslie goes to Basil (Miles Jupp). He encourages him to swoop in and hang out with Dimitra.

Basil seems excited about the idea. Leslie gives him tips. Basil gives it a try. Dimitra lets him inside right away. The locals stop associating with Louisa. They will not sell her produce. Pavlos (Nikos-Orestis Haniotakis) invites her to attend church. Margo gets mean with Maud. Then, she decides to take her into town. She tells Larry about it in a letter. Maud and Margo go to the movies. The experience changes Maud for the better. Louisa seeks advice from Theo. He tells her to attend the upcoming festival. He also tells her that Gerald might have a problem with a girl. Louisa speaks with him at home. He cries and admits it is Galini. He wants a motorbike. Louisa offers a bicycle instead. Maud and Margo fall in love with the cinema.

Leslie learns that things have gone well with Basil and Dimitra. He encourages Basil to end it, but he is ignored. Louisa speaks to Spiros about the family’s problem. He admits the locals believe he has been spending too much time with the Durrells. Louisa rallies the troops. She wants them to get along with the locals. In the morning, Louisa takes the Americans to church. Meanwhile, the others attempt to impress the postman. When Louisa and the others come home, they badmouth the locals and their church. Argos and the neighbors overhear. They storm off angrily. Prue (Felicity Montagu) and Geoffrey (Jeff Rawle) return home. They plead with Margo not to mess things up with Maud. Leslie knows he might be in trouble over the Basil thing.

Gerald tries to impress Galini. Instead, he makes an idiot of himself. Theo invites the family to the festival again. Spiros encourages them to partake too. Margo and Maud go to the movies. Maud and Prue join them a short time later. Margo sees a news segment about the war. It is getting dangerously close to Corfu. She seems worried about things back home. Louisa and the others learn a new dance for the festival. At the festival, they do okay. However, everything is still pretty awkward. Leslie goes for food and drinks. He sees Basil with Dimitra and learns that their relationship is stronger than ever. Louisa and the others manage to win over the crowd. Then, Gerald dances with a young girl. Galini gets jealous and cuts in.

The following day, Spiros decides to move in with the family. It is clear that things are going bad at home. Leslie speaks to Spiros about his wife. Spiros admits he would kill whoever she might be sleeping with. Leslie encourages Basil to end it. He refuses again.

The Durrells In Corfu Review

I really like The Durrells. The series is always cheerful and that is hard to find on television or even in the world today. I am slightly sad though because I think we’re nearing the end. I am concerned that the war will force the family away from Corfu. I really don’t like Spiros with Louisa. That just doesn’t feel comfortable to me. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed the entire season. This episode was especially good. In fact, it was the more humorous this season.

It scores a solid 8 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of The Durrells in Corfu right now!
