The Accident Series 1 Episode 5 Recap

David The Accident Netflix

Confrontation – Episode 5 begins with Agustin ‘Charro’ Mejia (Alberto Guerra) and Peyote (Cayetano Aramburo) briefly debating how to proceed while driving to Emiliano Lobo’s (Sebastian Martinez) house. The conversation doesn’t suggest a desirable outcome for either Emiliano or David Matamoros (Erik Hayser). Right after learning Emiliano is nowhere to be found, Charro receives a call from Guadalupe ‘Lupita’ Barranco (Erendira Ibarra) with the news about Alex Mejia’s (Sebastian Dante) arrest. Daniela’s absence is soon explained by a brief scene where she accuses Carla Robles (Regina Blandon) of getting the media fried up about Paula Vallejo’s (Pau Menna) claims of being rescued by the Virgin Mary. This will continue for several minutes but ultimately leads to Daniea telling her the truth about Emiliano.

Things are no better at Javier Serrano (Ruben Zamora) and Brenda Malpica (Valentina Acosta) as she blows up on him about the vasectomy. Emiliano overhears the argument and tries to leave but it becomes clear that Javier has not offered him a place in his home out of the goodness of his heart. He’s worried that Emiliano will do something even more reckless to put the firm in jeopardy. As all this takes place, David is also discovered and freed by a maid.

Charro will return to the police station with his Lawyer (Emmanuel Varela) to learn more about Alex’s arrest. In a private meeting, it becomes clear that Charro doesn’t believe the story Alex is telling him. At the same time, Lucia Lobo (Macarena Garcia Romero) is spinning a similar narrative to Daniela but she clearly doesn’t buy it either. Having escaped, David’s first call is to warn Emiliano that Charro might be coming after him. This leads to Emiliano calling Daniela and learning and Charro and Peyote’s visit to his house.

Emiliano will later storm over to Charro’s house to confront him but neither he nor Lupita are home. As it turns out, they have just pulled over on the roadside after leaving the police station without Alex. This is where he not only confronts her about the affair with David, but he tells her that it was a tracking app that led to him making the discovery. He eventually makes her strip down to her lingerie and walk home.

David will eventually return home to Carla with the story of accidentally killing one of the men who mugged him. As he urgently expresses the need for them to get out of town, Lucia will argue with Salome (Regina Reynoso) about Alex’s arrest. Salome claims it’s out of her hands while Nico/Nicolas (Diego Bernal) threatens Alex if he talks. Lucia points out that Alex doesn’t know anything to share but she does. Daniela will later tell her that Emiliano is going to be spending some time away from the house but refuses to go any further into the discussion at the moment. Lucia will also later speak to Emiliano but he doesn’t offer any more insight either.

Alex is now being questioned by Chief Santos (Mauricio Isaac) and Fonseca (Horacio Garcia Rojas) without a lawyer or adult present. Although they press him pretty hard, it appears he honestly knows nothing to tell. Alex does appear a bit shocked when they imply that his father is involved in drugs and it was a dispute with his former partners that led to their relocation in town.

Despite David convincing Carla to leave town, she eventually becomes suspicious of the holes in his story. After learning surmising that he already knew about Emiliano’s lapse with the bounce house, she accuses him of planning to have Ramon ‘Moncho’ Gomez (Silverio Palacios) killed.

Although Lupita returns home safely, Charro refuses to let her in. Carla will learn that her ‘Miracle Child’ article is getting obscene amounts of online attention, but that excitement is quickly extinguished when David learns that Fabian Vallejo (Erick Elias) has filed a human rights lawsuit against her. After several failed attempts to reach Emiliano, Daniela calls Javier. This conversation doesn’t go at all as she expected but it doesn’t take her long to realize where Javier’s interests lie.

Lupita is asleep on the front porch when Emiliano shows up to confront Charro. This is where she learns the truth about Emiliano’s involvement in Gabriel Mejia’s (Dhaniel Cardoza) death. A very brief somewhat evenly matched fight ensues until Charro pulls his weapon. Daniela just happens to be racing up the driveway at the same time. She will end up shooting Charro in the arm and other than some veiled threats; the confrontation goes no further at the moment. Daniela and Emiliano will return home together where he debates turning himself in. She appears to appreciate the thought of him turning himself in, but that doesn’t last long once he claims that doing so would only make things worse.

Things are no better between Nico and Lucia as he arrives at the last second to prevent her from turning him in. He threatens her with a video of them having sex and her doing coke. The episode ends with Emiliano turning himself in.

The Accident Review

As I’ve said before, it’d be hard to find a more consistently bad series. The midseason finale, titled Confrontation, was no different. Along with being aptly named, I can appreciate that every character was forced to face some type of confrontation in this episode. Some of these confrontations even offered new possible story arcs while some only expanded on the existing stories. I don’t know if it’s the translation, language barrier, or the actual script, but some of the things Charro says are pretty harsh. I do feel that the series is moving along at an enjoyable pace. I’d give the episode a 5.3 out of 10.
