As the 6th episode of Temple’s second season begins, Eve Milton (Lily Newmark) finds the blood in the bomb shelter. Then, she watches CCTV video of Daniel (Mark Strong) and Anna (Carice van Houten) placing Rob’s body in plastic and taping it up. She cleans up the blood before throwing the evidence away in one of the garbage cans outside. A camera is recording her moves outside. After the intro, Daniel and Anna drive down the road while arguing about the radio and being hungry and tired. They hear a phone ringing but soon realize the phone doesn’t belong to either of them. Once they stop the vehicle, they check Rob Moloney (Ryan McKen) and find that Kam is calling his phone. Daniel uses Rob’s finger to unlock the phone so they can text Kam back. As Anna sends the text message, Daniel looks at the birds above him.

They work together to come up with something to send Kam before getting back in the vehicle. Back in the vehicle, Anna wonders if this is even necessary. Daniel isn’t sure they can flush a third body from the bunker and explains they’re going to take the body to the spot where he was going to dump Beth if she died. Anna eventually stops talking and accepts his plan. Daniel says they’ll need something to weigh him down before we jump back six months as Daniel and Eve arrive at a fancy motel. As they walk inside, Daniel admits he booked the room at the last minute so he isn’t going to propose or anything. Anna says she has something for Daniel although it isn’t something expensive. It is a psychopath test and she has already circled a few that she believes match Daniel’s personality. Back in the present, they stop at the store and park up front.

They’re harassed by a man with a baby for parking in the spot for people with kids. Nevertheless, Daniel refuses to move the vehicle. The argument continues until Daniel and Anna step inside. Anna tells Daniel he could’ve just moved the vehicle while he picks up a few kettlebells to weigh down Rob’s body. They notice they have blood on their clothes. Once they find out how much money they have, they purchase two gawky tracksuits. As they leave in the tracksuits, we see that a knife has been stuck in one of their front tires. In a flashback, we see them playing croquet together. They’re approached by a couple who got a deal on Groupon and asked whether they did. They admit they’re not married and wanted some privacy because sexual relationships are a big no-no in the military.

Daniel believes he fell in love with Anna the first time she spoke to him. In the present, they have to stop the car due to the flat tire. They open the truck, move Rob’s body, and confirm they have a spare tire in the back. They move the body to the wooded area nearby before it rolls down the hill. They return to the car, grab the tools, and find the handgun in the back of the trunk. Daniel complains that he told her to leave the gun behind. She reminds him that he could’ve moved the car. Soon, Anna learns that Daniel doesn’t know how to change a tire so it is going to take a bit longer than expected. They continue arguing until a police car pulls up behind them. Anna asks Daniel to grab the tool that is still in the boot so he has time to hide the gun in his pants. The officer confirms they have the jack the wrong way around before agreeing to change the tire for them.

After he finished changing the tire, the police officer decides to use the bathroom in the woods nearby. Daniel decides to go with him in hopes of preventing him from finding the body. He tells Daniel about the crystals used for long drives while Daniel pretends he hears a siren in the distance. As they try to use the bathroom, the officer learns that Daniel didn’t need to go at all. He suspects there is something going on and that Daniel could be hiding drugs somewhere. Daniel reaches for the gun while the cop explains his suspicions. He asks Daniel where the drugs are. He covers up the gun and explains he is having an affair and they’re both worried about it. The cop sympathizes with that because his wife left with the kids a few years ago. The cop leaves the wooded area without seeing Rob’s body nearby.

As Daniel returns to the car, he tells Anna it was insane and he is never going to leave the house again. He tries to start the vehicle but it won’t start. PC Lewis comes over and offers to tow them to a garage nearby. They have no choice and agree to cooperate. In another flashback, Daniel says he is fine although it is going to feel different for him after this weekend. He confesses he doesn’t want to go back to the way it was because they’ve moved on. Daniel goes on to say he feels happy with Anna because it seems simple and right. Anna agrees although she knows it is going to be a lot for Jack and Beth to contend with. PC Lewis (Jamie Michie) takes the car to Greg’s shop. They joke about Greg (Jack Colgrave Hirst) and his wife Daphne. Greg tells them where to take a seat while he works on the vehicle. Soon, we see that Daniel left the gun in the car.

Anna tells Daniel they can’t stay here because someone could find the body while they’re away. Daniel realizes he left the gun in the car’s door so they need to do something to get it back. Anna notices the mug that says future lottery winner and grabs one of Greg’s business cards. She goes to the bathroom, calls Greg, and pretends he won the Euro Millions lottery. Anna goes on to explain she needs someone to confirm Greg’s identity. PC Lewis comes over so he gets distracted as well. Daniel closes the hood and leaves a rag inside. Then, he gets in the vehicle, shuts the door, and starts the vehicle. He picks up Anna outside and they quickly drive away from the garage. In another flashback, Daniel promises to tell Beth tomorrow night after dinner. Anna says there is another option since they could just turn their phones off and keep driving. In the present, Daniel and Anna try to find the body in the middle of the night. Anna eventually falls over the body and finds it.

Daniel tries to kiss her, but she makes it clear that wasn’t a good time. He admits he doesn’t know what is wrong with him. They load the body into the car’s trunk seconds later. Back in the car, Daniel apologizes and admits he shouldn’t have done that. He admits he wishes to God that they would’ve just kept driving like Anna initially suggested. He goes on to say he wasn’t lying about the way he felt about her. Daniel admits he says he still has those feelings. Anna only asks him to start the car. They drive away until the vehicle begins smoking. Daniel has to get out and use his jacket to put out the fire. He pulls the rag from the engine and puts it out. Once they get back in the vehicle, they realize that the vehicle won’t start again so they’re out of luck and Anna wants to call the police.

She insists they’re not up to this and can’t pull it off. Daniel believes he can fix it and refuses to let Anna take the fall for a death that wasn’t her fault. She complains there is no magic lever they can pull to make all of this go away, but Daniel believes there is. He tells her he’ll be back before getting out of the car and calling Gubby (Rhys Ifans). He pulls out the psychopath test from his pocket and tells Gubby he needs help with something. Next, Anna and Daniel sit at a dinner and Anna asks what is going to happen when the guy wants the favor repaid. Daniel admits he put himself in that position for her. They hold hands as the taxi arrives to pick up Daniel. Gubby’s people deal with the body. Daniel returns to the bunker and looks around although it seems to be empty. He checks the bomb shelter and finds that someone cleaned up the blood for him.

Then, he checks his phone and gets a message from Eve who reveals they’re trying to charge her with murder.

Temple Review

Unfortunately, this episode of Temple was pretty disappointing. Don’t get me wrong. It had some good moments and humorous scenes, but the writing was pretty bad. The characters kept doing stupid things over and over again. Anna brought the gun with them, they let the body roll over the hill, Daniel couldn’t change the tire, Daniel left the gun in the car, Daniel refused to move the car, and Greg fell for the lottery scheme.

It felt like amateur hour compared to the prior episodes, and it didn’t help that the episode didn’t achieve much. All that mattered in the episode was that Daniel is now indebted to Gubby and Eve has been arrested for murder. Still, I am eager to see how the season is going to end and may go ahead and watch it right away. I just hope it is more believable than this episode. It scores a 5 out of 10. 1. I’m so frustrated! “Spectrum” is the only thing offering it in the US, and they only serve random little pockets here and there (i.e., not my area.) UGH.

        1. That is disappointing to hear. If you want people to watch it, you’ve got to make it available. There are ways to find the episodes online with a quick Google search although it is ethically questionable lol.
