Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

Catelynn Teen Mom: The Next Chapter MTV

You Go Do You – “You Go Do You” starts in the Baltierra household as Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra employ the questionable yet tried and tested parental method of bribery. Although the couple didn’t make it easy, Novalee Regina Baltierra (Nova) prevails. With all perfect scores on her next 10 spelling tests, she gets her pick of hamster. Being together for 7 years, the couple has been through it all, but their greatest accomplishment is unquestionably their daughters and that’s where Catelynn wants to focus her next chapter, building a lineage of strong, capable females.

On top of all that Catelynn has still made time to pursue her passion for micro-blading, a new form of semi-impermanent eyebrow enhancement. The final 100% test leads to a trip to “Pet Smart” where the young girl chooses an all-black hamster and gifts it the name Oreo. Catelynn’s anxiety about the awkward formation of Rya’s head spills over to Tyler and the couple find themselves scheduling a doctor’s appointment.

Ashley Jones – Ashley Jones and Bar show their “child at heart” sides by giving their daughter years of hard-earned sliding lessons at the local park. It is Bar that points out to Holly that getting your whole body flat will give you the ultimate effect. Addressing her sister in private on group chat, Ashley reveals that much like Sean, Bar is also battling addiction. Like Sean, he’s fresh out of rehab. The only difference is that Bar only spent 3 days there before returning home.

Ashley wants to be mad, but at the same time wisely points out that it has to be him that wants to do the work. As Ashley put the final arrangements on their move to downtown California for more space, Bar makes a vow to return to the center and complete the scheduled 30 days. Ashley couldn’t be happier and the fact that he is making the decision himself is a huge asset. Her little family’s next chapter seems to be headed in the exact direction she was hoping for.

Leah Messer – Leah’s story picks up in Tennessee at Jaylan Mobley’s rental as he and Addie Messer get into a competitive game of darts. With a few minutes to spare, Leah finds time to privately address the group chat and profess her love for Jaylan. That love is on full display during a family dinner outing when Addie talks about the absence of her sisters. It is just her that misses them. During the meal, Leah reminisces about her daughters and her budding relationship with Jaylan. Building on the foundation of that relationship is where she has the steering wheel of her next chapter aimed. Leah is reminded to be careful what you wish for when a mere few days later, Jaylan proposes the prospect of them not just moving in together, but buying a home. Despite that, it doesn’t take her a second to jump on the offer.

Briana DeJesus – All the guests are yet to show up for Briana DeJesus’s soirée, but she doesn’t waste any time or spare any expenses where snacks and munchies are concerned. Peeling away from the small gathering at the Airbnb, Briana discusses her anxieties over Jade Cline and Jenelle Evan’s first-time meeting. Despite never having met before, the two girls have been hashing it out over “Twitter” for the last several months. Donning her war paint, Briana continues to discuss those and other anxieties concerning the party with professional stylist, Desiree. The two short weeks she’s had for the planning doesn’t seem nearly like enough time. Elsewhere, Jade Cline, being a professional stylist herself helps Shea assemble her looks for the big event. While doing so, she discusses a bit about the Jenelle situation and how it’s evolved. With the girls all geared up, the day turns to night, and guests start arriving.

Jade Cline – With Jade attending the event, the responsibility of Kloie Kenna Austin falls to Sean Austin. Although Sean reserves the night for Kloie and “fort” building, he takes prime advantage of Jade’s absence. He, however, doesn’t do it alone and recruits the assistance of Jade’s best friend, Chau. He’s already got an idea but wants to run it by her first. The two discuss a horse, carriage, a hotel suite, and an intimate rooftop dinner. When asked if he thinks that Jade will say yes this time, it doesn’t even take him a second to confirm.

Ashley Jones – Before the rooster’s crow, Ashley is up and seeing Bar off to rehab. She’s not happy with his absence, but she couldn’t be more pleased with where he’s headed and the effort he’s making. In their entire 8-year relationship, the couple has never spent more than a week apart and that equally scares the life out of both of them.

Leah Messer – Leah’s next chapter is coming together much faster than she could have ever hoped. Jaylan not only surprises her with his putting an offer on a home, but he surprises her with an accepted offer. Leah discusses this with the group of girls over chat. As Leah gets elbow-deep in packing up Jaylan’s rental, she is interrupted by her friend, Nicole Stegall. Although the buying of the home and moving in came together so fast, Leah can’t help but admit the couple has been playing house for the better part of their relationship.

Briana DeJesus – Although Jenelle arrives looking worse for wear, things are much more cordial than anyone could have imagined. Jade even plays stylist as Shea and Briana led the girl to the drinks. Drink in hand and getting her look together, Jenelle contributes her disheveled appearance to David Eason. The stress of taking care of him over the past several months has taken its toll. That on top of Ensley’s constant need for care has worn the girl out. Briana opens the Airbnb to her and tells her that she come to the right place. With an invitation to stay and release as much stress as she needs, the girls could be in for quite a night. With Jenelle in her war paint and the hatchet buried between her and Jade, festivities get quickly underway.

Jade Cline – As Jade parties her free time away, Sean, Chau, and Kloie take advantage of her absence. Venturing into Reis Nichols Jewelers, the trio met with a jeweler, Nicole, as Sean issues the proper introductions. It doesn’t take any of them long to get into the immense selection. While Sean is seeking a pair with a “teardrop” design theme, Nicole reminds him that they are an in-house designer manufacturer. This virtually means Sean picks the pieces of the ring, and they assemble them, offering much more of a custom feel. Retiring to the back to collect some samples, Nicole comes back with a special offering, especially for Kloie.

It’s a squishy, blinging play ring. Sean even includes the girl in the selection of the diamonds and all the pieces are soon selected. It’s merely a matter of booking a day, a suite, and a reservation now.

Catelynn Baltierra – With fears that she’s been doing something wrong, Catelynn and Tyler gather their troops for Rya’s appointment. While the staff is more than familiar with the Baltierras, they are unfamiliar with this new concern. In addition to that, Vaeda, still in her pajamas, isn’t a huge fan of the clinic. She’s throwing a huge fit the whole time Catelynn tries to give the doctor a rundown of her concerns. Tyler’s attempts at intervention are practically futile, as the doctor examines Rya’s head. It’s not uncommon for babies to have preferred methods of sleeping, but it’s also completely fine for the mothers to intervene. The doctor does notice some slight deformity on the girl’s head, and further suggests Catelynn to switch up feeding arms. Other than that, there is nothing else to worry about.

Leah Messer – Picking up the twins, Aliannah and Aleeah, the entire Messer clan has reunited. As Jaylan drives, Lead questions the girls about what their father has revealed to them about their exciting news. It is Aleeah that says Cory told them that their mother had something big to tell them. Aliannah, however, corrects her twin by pointing out that he merely said he knows things that the girls don’t yet know. All while this is going on, Jaylan is enjoying the anticipation. Pulling up in front of a posh brick spread in a suburban neighborhood, the girls go nuts. Addie is the first to declare the premium pick of bedrooms. As they enter and walk through the home, some hard truths are revealed in the form of media hype.

Several articles and quotes by popular entertainment sources reveal that Jaylan only put his name on the $500,000 loan for the home. While this means that he will be the sole owner of the home, it also means that he will be held responsible should things fall through. Although referred to as the “snub of the century,” Leah reminds the group chat that you sometimes just have to ignore what people say and push forward. She could have her name on the deed and feels that the couple is as close as ever.

Briana DeJesus – Festivities over and back at home, it appears that Jenelle and Briana may have got in some much-needed girl time. As Briana drives her to the airport from her home, the two talk of needing more time to recover from the wild bash. Getting right down to business, Briana wants to make sure that everyone treated Jenelle with respect. Jenelle can’t say enough good things about the party and Briana’s friends, especially Jade. With the party and lawsuit over, Briana looks to move forward with everyday life. And, taking a more stern stance against bullying, especially the online variety, which she is constantly exposed to.

Jade Cline –Chau visits Jade again at the salon where they discuss the party and Jenelle. Jade informs her friend that the beef was squashed on her end before Jenelle even arrived. It became official once Jenelle arrived. This eventually leads to discussions of Jade’s happy, little familial unit, which she could not be happier about. With the salon and Sean’s efforts toward sobriety, Jade doesn’t feel like things could be better.

Ashley Jones – With Bar’s absence, Ashley focuses on keeping her daughter busy, and a spa day with her mother, Tea is in order. While getting pampered Ashley peruses the latest social media updates and Tea talks with Holly about starting First Grade. Ashley spends the rest of the day with some good takeout and her sister, Chris, who is nervous about being forced to eat with chopsticks. Luckily for her, it’s like riding a bicycle once she gets started. Bar is the topic of discussion. He may only be gone for 30 days, but Ashley is already feeling the weight of his absence. Although Holly has randomly asked about his absence, they’ve decided to spin the story that he’s away at “camp” with no cell service. Ashley continues to busy her daughter with visits to Teas and delectable baked goodies.

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Review

Not the worst episode ever. Of course, the Jade and Jenelle beef was played up. I don’t follow either on social media, so I don’t know how serious their drama was. Either way, it’s good for their children and others to see them put their problems behind them if they really are. The shooting is intriguing, but 13 shots and no deaths or wounded? Well, I honestly shouldn’t say that because I haven’t looked into the event. I don’t know the extent of the physical injuries. I imagine the mental scars certainly aren’t pleasant. It was horrible that the kids had to be in the vehicle.

Another thing I like to touch on real quick is Catelynn and Tyler’s doctor’s appointment. I know viewers only oftentimes get half the footage, but the way they let that little girl throw her tantrum in front of the doctor says a lot about their parenting. The Leah and Jaylan problems also seem blown way out of proportion. Yes, most would think that the two would choose to act as a single unit, but these days things can happen in the blink of an eye. I find Jaylan stepping up to take sole responsibility for the home a plus for men everywhere. That is especially the case here with Leah likely being the one to bring in the lion’s share of the income.

We should commend the Teen Moms that exited the show and never looked back.
