Shoresy Season 4 Episode 2 Recap

Blueberry Buddies – The episode begins with Jill (Maxim Roy) filming the Sudbury AAA Lakers graduating players’ video yearbook. This doesn’t go so well and takes several attempts.

Sometime after this, Jill turns to Nat (Tasya Teles) for help with the Lakers. It seems that the Laker’s top prospects are distracted because of it being the off-season. Jill wants to start a mentorship program with Shoresy (Jared Keeso) and some of the other Bulldogs to keep her team focused. Nat sees this as the perfect opportunity to keep her guys busy as well and even says their favorite sponsor will be more than willing to pitch in.

Shortly after this, Nat breaks the news to the team and gives them the name of the mentorship program, The Blueberry Buddies. Although the team isn’t too enthused about. their new position, Nat, Miigwan (Keilani Elizabeth Rose), and Ziigwan (Blair Lamora) hold the Weird Sudbury over their heads.

After merely two days into the program, Nat freaks out after receiving word of a sexual complaint. She is relieved when she learns that the complaint was one of the boys doing a helicopter with his penis. As for the rest of the program, all seems well. At the same time, Anik Archambault (Kim Cloutier) and Emma (Vanessa Matsui) try to come up with a way to evolve Shoresy’s talents even further.

After the helicopter incident, Brant ‘Goody Goodleaf (Andrew Antsanen), Dolo (Jonathan-Ismael Diaby), and Ted ‘Hitch’ Hitchcock (Terry Ryan) seek help from Shoresy. Although he doesn’t want to, Shoresy is goaded into speaking with the boys. Shoresy gets Jack to admit that he helicoptered in hopes of getting sent home because he didn’t feel like skating, which is apparently all they’ve been doing. Shoresy seems stunned by the fact that you are supposed to get undressed in the undressing room. After a bit of back and forth, Shoresy learns that the rule was made because some parent was trying to get their kid more ice time by getting other players in trouble.

Elsewhere, Nat, Ziigwan, and Miigwan discuss getting the Bulldogs into the Weird Sudbury while debating taking some time off for themselves. Anik and Emma try shaking things up on the show by pitting Shoresy against three women. This quickly spirals out of control for Shoresy when he says that women’s hockey players don’t skate as fast as men.

After practicing with the Lakers, Dolo, Hitch, Goody, Michaels (Ryan McDonell), Nat, Ziigwan, and Miigwan decide to head to Little Montreal to watch Shoresy sing karaoke to Laura Mohr (Camille Sullivan). Shoresy is so inspiring that Nat and Miigwan get up on stage with him. Later that night, Shoresy tries to go home with Laura but she won’t let him because her kids are home. She does, however, take him to the parking lot and this is where the episode ends.

Shoresy Review

Another great episode, I especially enjoyed Shoresy’s karaoke bit. It looks like this season is going to be based around the off-season, which should be really cool. I honestly don’t have much to complain about other than Anik and Emma ambushing Shoresy with the three women. I didn’t see how they thought this was more enjoyable than his time with Steve. I appreciate them trying something a bit different, but it just wasn’t classic Shoresy. Despite that, I’d still give the episode a 6 out of 10.
