Amelia claims he left after receiving a call. Lewis says Oliver left around 11pm and when he didn’t return, he kept trying his phone. Amelia tells them that Oliver has a habit of working late. Ridley looks around at the many photos of Oliver and a few of Lewis. Lewis admits to knowing about the underground raves and suggested the sites to be securitized but Oliver and Sarita refused. Upon leaving, Ridley questions why the family never notified the police. He tells Carol about the photos.

Charlie voices concern about being charged with a crime. He denies knowing Oliver and claims to have received a message from GlowUpGirlxx requesting a drug drop. Carol says he may get off with a warning if he tells her about the dealers. He denies knowing their names but heard something about a go-kart track. A short time later, Carol goes over the evidence with her team. Darren informs them that the call came from a pre-paid phone. The drugs found at the site match drugs circling Manchester. Revealing a photo of Ava, Darren suggests she is the rave organizer. Later, Ridley informs Ava of Oliver’s murder. Shocked, Ava denies knowing Oliver was at the rave and admits to being the sole organizer. She met him through a photo shoot. Ridley shows her a photo of the drugs. A short time later, Carol asks Amelia if she knew Oliver had a cocaine addiction. Amelia claims Sarita refused to let them talk about his addiction. She shows them a photo of frog-labeled pills and cocaine packets that she previously found in Oliver’s coat. She claims Lewis went back on his word to help Oliver and tried to force him out of the company by threatening to expose his drug addiction. Jack is talking to Jordan when Ridley approaches. Jordan speeds away. Jack says Carol sent him. Ridley says he wanted to ask him to work on his boat. Jack agrees to 40 quid. At the police station, Carol tells DCI Paul Goodwin (Terence Maynard) and Ridley that Oliver’s car pinged near a go-kart track on the day he was murdered. Matt Brandon (Alexander Cobb) owns the go-cart track that is utilized to run drugs. Matt denies knowing Oliver and pretends to be shocked his car pinged there on the day he was murdered. Goodwin warns against arresting Lewis without the murder weapon.

When Ridley leaves to get food, Jack takes something out of a bag. At the police station, Carol and Ridley try to convince Goodwin to not bring Jack into the investigation. Jordan spends a lot of time at the go-kart track and makes weekly trips to Manchester. Goodwin approves Jordan being picked up at the bus station. Later, Darren and Carol approach Jordan after he gets off the bus. Jordan hits Darren but he is apprehended and arrested for assault on a police officer. Carol finds several bags of frog-labeled drugs in his backpack. At the police station, Carol shows evidence that reveals Jordan had been supplying Oliver with drugs. Jordan has a criminal history of possessing drugs and grew up in care homes. He claims Matt forced him to call Oliver because he was upset about money and wanted to kill him. He last saw Oliver on the morning of the day that he was killed.

Jack blames Carol for Jordan being arrested. Geri Farman (Bhavna Limbachia) assures him that they are only looking at for him. He blames them for not being there for him when he was nearly killed. Upset, he leaves. At the go-kart track, Mat figures out that Carol is Jack’s mum. At the police station, Goodwin informs the team of Jordan’s arrest and Lewis being a suspect in Oliver’s murder. Jordan ran away from foster care on the day Matt signed a lease on the go-kart track. A short time later, Matt denies any allegation of running a drug operation. He suggests Jordan told them that he threatened to kill Oliver. As Carol is preparing to leave, Matt asks if she is Jack’s mum. Ridley intervenes to stop her from going for Matt. At the police station. Ridley tells Goodwin about what happened at the go-kart track. Darren says Oliver’s bank records show lots of incoming transfers, a large payment to a conveyance solicitor, and a jeweler. Carol voices concern about Jack’s safety. Goodwin says there is not enough evidence to arrest Matt and promises to put surveillance on her house. Carol insists on arresting Matt. Goodwin removes her from the case and puts Ridley in charge. The episode ends.

Ridley Review

Goodwin, Carol, and Ridley show bias toward Jack because he is a Farman. The video put him and Jordan at the rave on the night Oliver was murdered. Jordan is brought in for questioning but not Jack. He is later arrested for drug possession. He grew up in care homes while Jack has had a stable home all his life. It is possible that Jack is involved in the drug trade, not as deeply as Jordan but involved, nonetheless. He obviously knows more than what is telling. As soon as Jack was connected to Jordan, Carol should have been removed from the case.

Let’s not forget that Lewis’ DNA was found on the bullet that killed Oliver. He confessed to giving Oliver the gun. Goodwin refused to arrest him without the murder weapon. Murder charges have been brought with much less evidence. Lewis is from a prominent family.

The series has taken yet another turn for the worse. It’s never been great and nothing makes it stand out. It’s a mere drop in the bucket compared to all the other British police procedural shows. The episode deserves a 4.5 out of 10.
