Part 2 A Sleeping Tiger – The episode opens at the Copelton District Police Station where Tasha Walker (Chloe Harris) sits alone in the interrogation room. DI Carol Farman (Bronaugh Waugh) scolds DC Darren Lakhan (George Bukhari) for arresting Tasha without getting her approval. He says when the tip came in last night, he tried to call her but her phone was off. She was in court. Alex Ridley (Adrian Dunbar) informs them that DCI Paul Goodwin (Terence Maynard) is coming from Manchester. In the interrogation room, Tasha claims Liam Manley (Kerim Hassan) left his clothes with her. Carol argues that he kept what may be evidence in connection with the robbery for 24 hours. Tasha stresses the need to protect her cover. Donna Burnside tipped off the police. The paint flecks found on Ryan Stanford’s (Ruaridh Mollica) are not a match for Callum Douglas’ (Kaya Moore) van. Tasha says Liam never killed Ryan. Carol informs them of her decision to remove Tasha from the case. Tasha claims Liam has the stolen goods but denies knowing where they are stored. Outside the interrogation room, Carol and Ridley discuss their options. He admits to knowing about Tasha’s past. She suggests his judgment is clouded because Tasha is the same age as Ella. They return to the interrogation room to tell Tasha that she is back on the case. After Carol leaves, Ridley unplugs the tape recorder before questioning Tasha about her relationship with Liam. Angry, she explains why she left home and claims being a cop is the best decision she ever made. He fills her in on Terry Sansom (Matt Bardock) and gives her a tracking device to install on Liam’s vehicle.

Annie Marling (Julie Graham) suggests to Harry Bentham (John Michie) that they slow down because she barely knows him. He gives her a bracelet. She reluctantly accepts it. At the stud farm, Ridley asks Simon Penrose (Toby Hadoke) about Terry. Simon denies knowing him personally. Ridley says Terry utilizes his haulage company to move stolen merchandise. Getting defensive, Simon asks if he is under investigation when Katharine Penrose (Christine Bottomley) approaches. Ridley tells them that a witness came forward alleging Ryan delivered large sums of money to their stud farm. Simon denies the allegations. Katharine catches up with Ridley and asks if he told Simon about Ryan calling her from jail. He asks if she had an affair with Ryan and if she is covering for Simon. She demands he stay away from her family. Elsewhere, Tasha boasts of the police not having any evidence to charge her. She asks if he knows Terry. He admits to holding his stuff for a few days. They kiss.

Ridley sees Annie’s new bracelet from Harry. She suggests he knew Harry wasn’t involved in the robberies. She says Harry was married twice, filed bankruptcy, and has an estranged son. Ridley performs live. Elsewhere, Tasha leaves Liam in bed to get some water. Terry sends a text about a drop scheduled for tomorrow at Hart’s Moor Industrial Estates. She sees the text when she returns to bed. The next morning, she wakes to find Liam’s side of the bed empty and immediately texts Ridley with intel about the drop. Liam utilizes a spare key to access a shed where the stolen goods are stored. He stuffs it into a bag. Ridley receives her text. At New Bridge Inn, Joy Walker (Christine Entwisle) confronts Tasha about her relationship with Liam. Upon leaving, she ignores a call from Ridley. Joy sees Tasha get into Liam’s car. Liam tells Tasha that they are in it together. Elsewhere, Ridley notifies Carol of the impending drop at Hart’s Moor Industrial Estate. He voices concern about Tasha’s welfare.

Terry stuffs cash into an envelope and gets into his car. At New Bridge Inn, Ridley asks Joy if she has seen Tasha. She tells him that Liam stayed with Tasha last night and they left together. She says they were childhood sweethearts. Later at the police station, he tells Goodwin about Tasha and Liam’s relationship. When Carol tries to take the blame, he says it is on him. Goodwin accuses him of compromising their operation. Ridley says she informed them of the drop. Goodwin approves an armed team to be on standby but insists Ridley not be involved. Ridley warns of what will happen if Tasha’s cover is blown. At the scene, Carol apologizes to Darren before telling him that Tasha’s arrest could have compromised their investigation. Terry arrives at the scene. Elsewhere, Liam suggests to Tasha that they take the stolen goods and leave Framley. He receives a text from Terry asking where he is at. Tasha urges him to get rid of the stolen goods. Retrieving a handgun, he says Terry needs to start showing him some respect. She warns him against going after Terry. He admits to knowing she is a cop because of a notepad he found in her bedroom. At the police station, Ridley learns from Carol that Liam never showed up to meet Terry for the drop. Irate, Liam accuses Tasha of betraying him. She activates the tracking device. Goodwin and Ridley see Liam and Tasha outside the drop point. Tasha urges Liam to put his gun away. Ridley is driving to their location. Liam forces Tasha out of his car and orders her to walk. She takes several steps. He speeds away from the scene. Goodwin tracks Liam’s vehicle when he notices Ridley is gone. Tasha is alone when Ridley arrives. She tells him that Liam aims to kill Terry. When Carol finds out, she prepares the armed unit.

Liam pulls up in front of Terry’s vehicle. Terry emerges from his vehicle. Carrying the bag of stolen merchandise, Liam approaches him. Terry expresses his desire to keep things clean and hands him the envelope of cash. Liam drops the bag on the ground. Terry grabs the bag and turns to walk away. Drawing his gun, Liam threatens to shoot him for killing Ryan. The armed unit orders them to get on the ground. Carol arrests them for the jewelry store robberies.

Carol and Ridley question Terry about the jewelry store robberies. Attorney Rebecca Bayling (Krissi Bohn) argues in her client’s defense. Terry denies any connection to Simon and Ryan’s murder. Elsewhere, Geri Farman (Bhavna Limbachia) puts Meadow down for a nap. Friends drop Jack Farman (Tareq Al-Jeddal) off in front of the house. She accuses him of lying about football practice. He asks her to not tell Carol. At the police station, Liam tries to take the blame for the robberies but Ridley isn’t having it. Ridley tells him that Tasha loves him. Liam accuses him of turning Tasha against him and denies knowing how killed Ryan. He claims Callum got them involved in the robberies. Darren and Ridley learn Katharine is Ryan’s mother. A short later, Ridley confronts Frank Stanford (John Henshaw) about taking Ryan away from Katharine because she was addicted to heroin. Frank hasn’t spoken to her in years but knows she turned her life around.

Dr. Wendy Newstone (Georgie Glen) informs Carol that a silver-white SUV matched the paint flecks on Ryan’s pants. Carol notifies Ridley that it was Simon’s SUV that mowed down Ryan. Ridley assures her that Simon isn’t the killer. At the stud farm, he fills her in on Ryan’s past. Carol informs Katharine that Terry will be charged for the robberies. Ridley accuses her of bringing down Terry’s operation. Simon doesn’t know she is Ryan’s mother. She says Simon is a waste of space and nearly lost the stud farm. She admits to cleaning Terry’s dirty money. Ryan recognized her as his mother. Katharine claims to have told him that he is nothing to her. Ryan asked her for help and she mowed him down to stop him from telling Simon. She tells Carol and Ridley that Ryan deserved it. Simon watches as she is led away in handcuffs.

Ridley tells Harry that the stolen jewelry was recovered except for the signature collection. He warns him against filing an insurance claim for 800,000 grand. Annie is glad to see them talking. Later, Ridley fills Tasha in on the case. He tells her that she will be returned to normal duties because she violated protocol. She plans to leave Framley. He says she reminds him of Ella and calls her a good cop. Joy finds a note from Tasha on her bed. At the train station, Tasha boards a train to Manchester. Ridley has a therapy session with Dr. Samantha Larsson (Suzanne Packer). The episode ends.

Ridley Review

Little has changed since the first episode of season two. The case is closed quite nicely with no loopholes. The acting remained strong throughout part one and part two. The cinematography, directing, and editing are great. My biggest qualms are the slow pace and clunky script. The episode deserves a 5.5 out of 10.
