Gethsemane – The episode opens with Abi Quinn (Rebecca Gibney) trying to not break down while putting on her makeup. Upon leaving to take Moses Quinn (Alexander D’Souza) to school, Abi invites Issy Kalani (Hayley McCarthy) and Benji Kalani (Jordi Webber) over for dinner.
Minister Dan Gascoigne (James Saunders) is hassled by reporters about his vote for prime minister. Dan admits he and the PM have their differences but they need a strong leader for the next challenging phase of government. Cal Quinn (Richard Roxburgh), Eli Slowik (Jacek Koman), and Dion Quinn (Ewen Leslie) watch from home. Eli assures them that the charity tax bill will pass if Dan backs the PM. Cal calls Dan but gets his voicemail. Eli sends Dion to speak to Jonathan Malik (Matthew Backer). Dion questions if Jonathan will talk to them. Cal says to tell Jonathan that “no” is off the table.
Jed, Marcie (Teneale Clifford), and Leroy (Julian Weeks) attend Gordy’s funeral. Leroy says Gordy was found dead in a dumpster. He warns that everyone blames him and that paying for Gordy’s funeral is no big deal. Jed tells him that establishing another center would cost a lot of money that he doesn’t have. Leroy reminds him that the Quinn family is loaded.
Jonathan refuses to say if Dan plans to back the PM. He adjusts Dion’s collar. Dion says Cal wants Dan to call him. Elsewhere, Moses meets Ravi (Arka Das). Ravi invites him to meet his family. When Moses does not respond, Ravi urges him to give it some consideration.
Abi, Benji, and Issy are at the dinner table when Cal arrives. Abi plays Rosa’s video of him doing drugs. Shocked, Cal asks where she got it. Issy says it was on Rosa’s phone that Benji found outside the church on the night she committed suicide. Cal assures them that it is not what it looks like. Benji points out that he was doing drugs with Rosa. He warns of what Mitch Leeway (Christopher James Baker) would do if he sees the video. Abi assures him that the video will not be leaked. He warns that Cal would be forced to resign and the LA church will be no more. Cal admits to being a drug addict who let his family and God down. Issy reminds him of how badly he treated her when she was pregnant and took Moses away from her. He says they were only trying to protect her. She tells him that their secrets help him and hurt everyone else. Issy suggests telling Moses that she is his mother. Abi dares her not to do it when Moses approaches. Issy backs out of telling him.
Jed says he is moving out. Eli admits to enjoying his company. Jed tells him about Gordy. Eli reminds him that he left his family three years ago. He believes Jed is running away when things get difficult.
Dion is masturbating in the shower when Taz Quinn (Ming-Zhu Hii) enters without knocking. He follows her into the closet and they start making out. He says the door is unlocked. She leaves to get Rachel Quinn (Dove Wong) and Bethan Quinn (Holly Leonard) ready for school. At school, she is greeted by Paul (Charlie Clausen) who compliments her appearance.
Cal is shocked to find Juno Adebayo (Andrea Solonge) in his office. She explains that she is Abi’s replacement. Eli tells Cal that he convinced Jed to not leave for now. He suggests giving Jed a purpose like he had at the community center.
Abi asks Benji if he plans to release Rosa’s video. He claims to want what is best for Issy. She warns that its release will be harmful to all of them, not just Cal. She explains Cal’s recovery process. She says they built a place where people in pain can find God’s love and she doesn’t want it destroyed. She reminds her that it is Cal in the video, not him. Elsewhere, Cal gives Jed a mobile meal truck. Jed says he knows what he is doing. Cal asks if it is wrong of him to want his son close by.
Issy asks Benji if they should leave. She voices concern about Moses not wanting her as a mother. He asks how could Moses not be happy when he learns that she is his mother. Elsewhere, Moses has Ravi, Anna (Joe Downing), and their children. Ravi asks if he wants to say grace. Moses says no way.
Maddox (Alex Fitzalan) informs Dion of his decision to restart his tour in Japan. He boasts of getting his passport back and the 15-year-old confessing to lying about being with him. Dion asks if his lawyers threatened the girl. Maddox says she decided to tell the truth. Dion asks if it was U Star Church. Maddox hurries out to catch his plane.
Cal pretends to not know Juno is Rosa Adebayo’s (Brigid Zengeni) daughter. He tells her that Rosa was an incredible person. She admits to being surprised he knew her. He tells her to follow him. He says he met Rosa for the first time during a reflection session. He points to the chair that Rosa sat in. Abi visits the apartment where Rosa overdosed. Juno asks if Rosa ever talked about her. He says a lot. She tells him that it never occurred to her that Rosa missed her dad as much as she did. Abi breaks down sobbing. Juno regrets not staying to help Rosa. Cal tells her that Jesus paid for their sins when he died on the cross. She asks how she is supposed to live with letting Rosa down.
Eli is in the restroom when Dan enters. He tells Dan to return Cal’s call. Dan reminds him that is now a minister. Eli says Cal funded his campaign for $200K or $300K. Dan agrees to see Cal this evening. Elsewhere, Abi tells Cal that she spent the night in his hotel. Cal denies having an affair with Rosa. She admits to wishing it was an affair because what they did was much more intimate. He receives a call from Eli saying Dan will see him later.
Jed and Juno open the food truck. Marcie is first to get some food. Later, Juno receives an alert about Jed’s food truck. He complains about photo ops and branding. She assures him that more people will donate if they know what he is doing. He asks if she is tithing. She says yes.
Ravi’s son asks Moses to attend his game. Moses accepts the offer. He asks Ravi if he can spend the night. Ravi agrees but only if his family is okay with it. Moses claims to have already cleared it with them. Ravi calls Issy to tell her that Moses is there. She asks if he has asked about her. He says it is her call because she is his mother. Moses overhears. Ravi tries to stop him from leaving but he heads out the door. He tells Issy that he knows. Later, Moses emerges from a car to see Issy approaches. He says everything should stay the same, she is his sister. She breaks down sobbing. While comforting her, Benji stresses the need for them to leave.
Abi and Benji offer to give them Rosa’s phone for the church in Los Angeles. Cal says it is blackmail. Abi urges them to get some rest. Benji tells them that they are starting their own family on their own terms. Cal warns that the tax audit could ruin them. Benji assures him that the American operations would be safe. Abi says Cal can do the launch, then appoint Benji as the senior pastor. Cal says Kasey Leeway (Nikki Shiels) and Mitch Leeway (Christopher James Baker) may have an opinion. Cal reminds him of how he treated him like his own son. Benji urges him to look at his sons. Cal agrees. Abi takes Rosa’s phone. Issy claims to have deleted the video from her phone before leaving. Cal breaks down sobbing. Abi assures him that they can do it before promising to be by his side. He thanks her.
Dan receives a package with a card that reads, “I missed you mate” and what appears to be a USB drive. Cal sits down in a vat of ice water. Dan pops in the USB drive. A video of him confessing to having an affair with his 23-year-old intern while Jackie was home dealing with another failed IVF cycle. He loved every minute of it. The episode ends.
Prosper Review
Moses meets his biological father, Ravi, without telling his family. Ravi is on the phone with Issy when Moses overhears him saying she is his mother. Moses is not yet ready to accept her as his mother.
Issy and Benji agree to give Rosa’s phone with the video of Cal utilizing drugs for the LA senior pastor position. Cal initially declines but realizes he is being backed into a corner. Abi promises to be there for Cal.
Dan plans to support the prime minister which would secure the charity tax bill. He refuses to take Cal’s calls. Eli reminds him of Cal funding his $300K campaign. Dan agrees to meet Cal but doesn’t show up. The next day, Dan receives a USB drive with a video of him confessing to infidelity while Jackie dealt with another IVF fail.
Maddox threatens or pays off the 15-year-old girl to change her story. He refuses to own up to his mistake. With a new passport, he leaves for a tour in Japan.
