Despite the show’s catapult to the top of the Netflix streaming reigns, the viewer reviews have not been kind to Harry or Meghan. This goes to show that bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. In fact, bad publicity might be the most attractive kind.
Rotten Tomatoes ratings currently stand at around 38% with a 15% critic rating. In addition to this, The Hollywood Reporter didn’t have many nice things to say about the series. One reporter with the reputed Hollywood news giant sums up his opinion of the series by pretty much saying the content is lacking.
Hollywood Reporter Angie Han says, “Harry & Meghan” too little that feels fresh enough to merit its luxurious six-episode sprawl for all but the most fervent royal watchers.”
The final three episodes promise to contain the juiciest of the revelations but haven’t dropped yet. They aren’t scheduled to release until December 15th of this year, giving fans plenty of time to get caught up. With all that being said, it stands to reason that the biggest disappointment of the series is that it only reveals what’s already been told.
“Harry & Meghan” were thrust into the limelight the moment they got together. Viewers that have been following along with the recently departed members of the royal family have analyzed the relationship in length.
Wednesday
Nostalgia is big in the US and has been for quite some time. That’s certainly not the only reason everyone’s pasty pig-tailed death princess has been catapulted to the top of the charts, but it’s no doubt a contributing factor. The show was standing proud at the top of the ranking until Harry & Meghan came along and bumped it off its victory path.
Wednesday has taken a much different approach to fame than the royal’s series. Along with its much different content, the show is banking on good reviews. Netflix’s latest reported data shows that the show raked in over 400 million hours of worldwide viewing.
Nothing has even come close. At the time of its top-place ranking, the only thing that came close was 1899, which only garnered a mere 44.6 million hours of view time. After just two weeks of official airtime, the show has nearly reached 800 million global viewing hours. With these stats, “Wednesday” has become the third most popular Netflix series released.
