Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Episode 10 Finale Recap

Kareem Kevin Mayor of Kingstown Paramount Plus

Comeuppance – The episode begins 12 hours in the future with Mike McLucksy (Jeremy Renner) reflecting on his time in prison while a harrowing scene plays out on the Kingstown Bridge.

In the present time, Mike meets with Dverin ‘Bunny’ Washington (Tobi Bamtefa) to put the finishing touches on their plan to bring down the Russians. Apparently, Mike is going to provide the Russians with the route and Bunny will lead them to a chokepoint where they will then eliminate them. Once this is accomplished, the Crips will own Kingstown.

At KPD, Ian Ferguson (Hugh Dillon) runs through the Charlie (Kenny Johnson) debacle with two IA Investigators (Jack Davis/Gerald Louis Campbell). All appears to be on the up and up until Evelyn Foley (Necar Zadegan) randomly shows up to poke holes in his story. The already heated meeting ends on a bad note when she points out that the Morrisey (Blake Shields) murder coincides with one of his outings with Charlie. Shortly after this, he and Stevie (Derek Webster) are called to investigate what supposedly is a murder at the Kingstown Bridge.

While Konstantin (Yorick Van Wageningen) and Iris (Emma Laird) debate the possible reasons for Roman’s (Mark Ivanir) disappearance, Stevie and Ian discover his corpse hanging from the underside of the Kingstown Bridge. It’s not long before Mike and Keno (Derek Basco) are on the scene as well. With the brutality and sheer amount of torture, it doesn’t take Mike and Ian long to pinpoint the murder to the Russians. Despite this, they both agree that it is Konstatin’s MO.

When Mike shares the news of Roman’s murder with Konstantin, he immediately blames it on Milo Sunter (Aidan Gillen). Mike continues to remain doubtful that Milo is alive but he soon has more pressing concerns to deal with after Ian subsequently catches him up on the Morrisey debacle. An ominous phone call from Robert Sawyer (Hamish Allan-Headley) suggests things are only about to get worse.

Warden Kareem Moore (Michael Beach) goes back over the footage from the recent attack at the prison to discover that Kevin Jackson (Denny Love) was involved. At the same time, Mike and Ian meet with Robert and Kyle McLusky (Taylor Handley). This meeting goes from bad to worse when Evelyn’s pursuit of Ian and Robert becomes the topic of discussion. After a bit of veiled threatening, Ian manages to lead Robert alone, leaving Kyle and Mike alone. At this time, Kyle confronts him about helping Tracy McLusky (Nishi Munshi). This confrontation is a bit less heated and amounts to Mike claiming that he was simply looking out for family.

Rather than make threats, Kareem confronts Kevin by sharing with him the story of an old corrupt warden who used to live at the prison in the Warden’s Quarters. He practically tells Kevin that it is wrong to do something for financial gain or out of loyalty because, in the end, everyone is alone.

Konstantin and his men prepare to ambush Bunny and the Crips while Bunny plots with Cole (Patrick Cage) and Digo (Phil Rice) for the counterattack. At the same time, Mike pays Evelyn a surprise visit to inquire about her pursuit of Ian and Robert. Although neither of them mince words, she practically tells him that she wants to bring down Robert and doesn’t care who or what is the collateral damage.

Mike continues his story of self-reflection from the opening scene when he briefly meets with Anna Fletcher (Paula Malcomson). She practically tells him that if it is atonement he is seeking, he’s already achieved it. At the same time, Robert discusses the prospect of Ian breaking and speaking against him with Kyle. Kyle assures him that Ian would never give him up but Robert doesn’t appear at all convinced. This ultimately leads to Kyle suspecting that Robert let him join SWAT just so he would have something to hold over Mike’s head.

At Anchor Bay, Kareem briefly speaks with his family over the phone before calling for backup at D-Block, although nothing is happening. Just as Carney (Lane Garrison) responds to the call, it becomes clear that Kareem is staging something nefarious. The Norseman (B. Todd Johnston) takes the bait and Kareem is shanked just as backup arrives.

Just as the Crips lead the Russians into the ambush on the bride, Iris and Konstatin return to the boat, where they have a nice surprise waiting on them. It turns out that Milo has not only conspired with Alex (Bria Condon) but the majority of Konstatin’s security as well. It’s mere minutes later when Milo makes Iris call Mike using the phone he gave her. KPD and SWAT are called in to deal with the bridge incident.

Just as the Crips gain the upper hand at the bridge, Mike arrives at the boat to lay eyes on Milo. They don’t mince words and despite the situation, Mike promises to put a bullet in him the moment he can. Something about that statement causes Milo to want to reflect on the death of his parents but he doesn’t go any further than offering to share the story.

After several minutes of back and forth, it is revealed that Milo wants Iris to kill Konstantin for her freedom. As Iris’s release is negotiated, SWAT arrives and takes control of the bridge fairly easily. There is one point where things get a bit hostile and Robert gets overzealous which leads to Kyle shooting and killing him. At the boat, Milo forces Iris to kill Konstantin, which she eventually does. It takes some convincing but Konstantin eventually convinces her to do so by referring to her as Hannah. As promised, Milo lets Iris go, although he clearly doesn’t want to leave.

Before she leaves, Ian shows up at the boat and shooting immediately starts, which gives Mike the opportunity he needs to surprise Milo. Despite gaining the upper hand, Mike makes Ian take Iris to the bus station. Before Mike executes Milo, it’s confirmed that he was responsible for the girls in the river as well as the bomb at Mariam McLusky’s (Dianne Wiest) funeral.

While Iris boards a bus headed out of state while Mike arrives at the bridge to learn about Robert and Kyle’s incident. Things only get worse when he learns that Evelyn plans on prosecuting him to the fullest extent of the law. The episode ends with Mike containing his self-reflection while Iris overdoses.

Mayor Of Kingstown Finale Review

I can’t say with confidence that the finale was spectacular. I certainly would go as far as to call it awful because the death of Iris could only mean good things for the remaining seasons. I always enjoy Mike’s self-reflection and the episode opening at the culmination of the season was interesting. I wasn’t expecting Kyle to kill Robert and I do have to say that this could make for a very intriguing future storyline. The death of Iris was also an unexpected but much-welcomed addition.

With Robert gone, this does leave the question of where Evelyn’s misguided pursuit of justice will fall. I wasn’t expecting Kareem’s stunt either, which was equally intriguing. I have much more respect for his character going out the way he did. What he did took balls and his family will no doubt be set for life. The deaths of Milo and Konstantin were almost a given and all in all, I’d give the episode a 6 out of 10.
