Kin Series 1 Episode 5 Recap

Con Kin RTE AMC

As the episode opens, Jason Doyle (Karl Rice) is eating when a knock at the door gets his attention. He opens the door to an armed man in a ski mask. Jason warns that he is making a mistake. Viking shoves him into a room. An armed Michael Kinsella (Charlie Cox) searches the house. Elsewhere, Amanda Kinsella (Clare Dunne) accesses a computer in a vehicle. It appears as if she is checking the route on a map.

Con Doyle (Keith McErlean) receives a text with a photo of Jason being held hostage by a man wearing a mask. A pin is dropped at the Dublin Port Carpark. Later, Con arrives at the destination to find Michael waiting with a recording of distraught Jason pleading with him to do as they say. He argues that Jason has nothing to do with what is going on. Michael says Jamie Kinsella (Cian Fitzsimons) was also innocent. Con claims Jamie’s death was an accident. Michael demands Con take him to where Eamon Cunningham’s (Clarian Hinds) drug stash is stored. Con reluctantly complies with the demand. Upon arrival at the secured facility, Con speaks with a guard while Michael remains hidden in the cargo area. The guard informs him that Eamon must be notified before he can access the unit. Con claims Eamon sent him. The guard permits him to enter the facility. Con utilizes a forklift to remove a large crate from a top shelf. The door is opened to reveal a stash of drugs. Michael and Con pack the drugs into the van. Con warns Michael that Eamon will kill him.

After exiting the facility, Michael orders Con to pull into the parking lot of The Brock Inn. He tells Con that Jason will call the phone behind the bar. Con threatens to bury him before walking toward the inn. Frank Kinsella (Aidan Gillen) hops into the driver’s seat. While pulling out of the parking lot, Michael says there are 60 kilos of pure coke and 80 pure kilos of heroin in the cargo compartment. Excited, Frank tells him that the drugs are worth at least 50 million. Later, Frank and Michael inform Amanda and Nikita Murphy (Yasmin Seky) that they have Eamon’s drugs.

Con tells Eamon that the Kinsella family cleaned out his stash. Eamon orders him to get it back. Elsewhere, The Kinsella family celebrates their success. Jimmy Kinsella (Emmett J Scanlan) urges Michael to take a shot of liquor. Bridget “Birdy” Goggins (Maria Doyle Kennedy) wishes Jamie was there to celebrate with them. Eric “Viking” Kinsella (Sam Keeley) says they are hitting back, killing Caolon Moore (Lloyd Cooney) and stealing Eamon’s stash. Frank warns against immediately moving the drugs. Jimmy voices concern about losing the dealers. Amanda pulls Frank off to the side to tell him about Detective Liz Cullen (Esosa Ighodaro) and Detective Paul Breslin (David Herlihy) stopping in at the dealership to inquire about a vehicle possibly involved in the drive-by shooting in Gracefield. She says Viking was driving the car at the time. She claims to have covered up for Viking but the detectives threatened to get a warrant to confiscate their computers. She tells him that the authorities will shut down the dealership for fraud and money laundering. Suggesting they give the detectives a name, Amanda says the car’s GPS shows Viking passed through four traffic cameras on the night of the shooting.

Frank refuses to turn Eric “Viking” Kinsella (Sam Keeley) in for the shooting. Amanda assures him that the police have evidence putting Viking in the driver’s seat of the car involved in the shooting. During a seizure, Michael falls into a glass door. He enters the apartment before collapsing on the floor. Amanda finds him a short time later. Frantic, she asks if he has been shot while helping him turn over. Informing her of his epilepsy diagnosis, he asks her to not say anything because he doesn’t want pity. She says her feelings for him are not pity.

Eamon offers a reward of 500k for killing Michael, Viking, Frank, and Jimmy. Glen Wright (Ben Carolan) and Beady (Ger Carey) listen as Eamon offers 2 million for returning his drugs. He orders Con to ramp up security at the hotel.

Amanda tells Jimmy that Viking is responsible for the drive-by shooting. She attributes the shooting to Jamie’s death. He refuses to believe it. She says the detectives visited the dealership asking about the car involved in the shooting. Jimmy claims Frank assures him that the shooting had nothing to do with Jamie getting killed. She suggests Frank lied or didn’t know. While getting dressed, Jimmy vows to make Viking pay. She assures him that he will pay. Jimmy scolds her for talking to him before telling Frank.

Michael sends Anna Areoye (Hannah Adeogun) a text asking her to meet with him. Elsewhere, Viking tells Isaac “Kem” Kemela (Ryan Lincoln) that their drug operation has been suspended. After Kem leaves, Frank shows Viking the car’s GPS map of his route that passed four traffic cameras. He warns that Jimmy and Amanda know about his drive-by shooting. Viking asks what he should do. Frank says to tell Donal Crehan (Paul Tylak) that he met Francis “Fudge” Flynn (Thommas Kane Byrne) after passing the last traffic camera at Ossory Road. He urges Viking to tell the police that Fudge is responsible for the shooting. Viking says they will convict him for driving the car before refusing to do it. Frank demands he follow his orders.

Kem tells Con that the Kinsella family is letting their dealers go. Con questions who made the decision. After suggesting it was Amanda, Kem claims Viking told him that she convinced Michael and Jimmy to kill Caolon.

Nikita offers to give Viking an alibi for the night of the shooting. She questions if Amanda blames him for Jamie’s killing before urging him to talk to Birdy. Elsewhere, Jimmy tells Michael that Frank denied Viking was involved in the shooting. Michael receives a text from Anna agreeing to meet him at 4pm. Jimmy voices concern about them getting shot. Michael says it may be his only chance. They leave the house on a motorcycle. A short distance away, a silver car starts trailing them. Jimmy loses the car before they arrive at their destination. Michael rushes inside the facility to see Anna dancing. Seeing the silver car approach, Jimmy alerts Michael. Seconds later, they leave as the silver car pulls up and stops.

Anthony Kinsella (Mark McKenna Jr.) tells Amanda that his dorm mates were watching the WhatsApp video of Fudge getting killed. She questions if they know his real identity. He admits to hating school and wants to go home.

Viking tells Birdy that Amanda is blaming him for Jamie’s death. When he calls her a “mental fu**ing b**ch,” Birdy slaps him across the face. She demands he never speak like that about any member of their family before promising to talk to Frank.

Upon arriving home, Michael texts Anna who is leaving the facility with her friends. Glen watches them. Elsewhere, Amanda is on her way home when she encounters a vehicle blocking the road. Another vehicle pulls in behind her. She frantically starts a text when Eamon approaches her vehicle. He agrees to let Anthony live if she returns his drugs. She denies any knowledge of the drugs. He threatens to kill Anthony if she doesn’t tell him where the drugs are within 72 hours. The episode ends.
