Miss Austen, a screen adaptation of Gill Hornby’s novel of the same name, follows Cassandra Austen (Keeley Hawes) as she desperately searches for letters penned by her recently deceased sister, Jane Austen (Patsy Ferran). Jane’s letters hold information that could ruin her reputation after death.
Cassandra portrays herself as a concerned, caring friend to Isabella (Rose Leslie) who recently lost her father and is now on the verge of losing her home.
A trip back to childhood gives Cassandra a new perspective on Isabella’s heartache and her very own sacrifices that she initially overlooked.
Miss Austen, produced by Stella Merz (A Suitable Boy, Gentleman Jack, Last Tango In Halifax), is divided into four episodes, 50 minutes each. The filming was scheduled to begin last month in the United Kingdom.
The series is a co-production of Masterpiece and Bonnie Productions. The release is not available at this time.
