As the episode begins, the townsfolk go to church. During this time, Opechancanough (Raoul Max Trujillo) lashes out at Chacrow (Kalani Queypo) for his dealings with Silas Sharrow. He wonders whether one of the younger men will have better luck with Silas (Stuart Martin). Moments later, Chacrow pays a visit to Alice (Sophie Rundle). He tells her that he needs to win back his honor. He leaves empty handed for the time being. Meanwhile, George Yeardley (Jason Flemyng) speaks with Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick) about the doctor. She explains that Christopher believes Nicholas Farlow (Burn Gorman) might be the spy. George doesn’t believe it. Then, Jocelyn recommends taxing the Sharrow brother’s trading business with the Pamunkey. George likes that idea.
Silas and Henry (Max Beesley) learn about the new tax moments later. They’re not happy. Silas tries to talk them out of it, but Yeardley isn’t willing to listen. Pedro (Abubaker Salim) manages to make Maria (Abiola Ogunbiyi) laugh at the farm. He insists she will be his wife someday. Pedro also wants to know where Maria has been going at night. She doesn’t answer. Jocelyn learns that Mercy (Patsy Ferran) has gotten over her sorrow. Jocelyn also learns that James Read (Matt Stokoe) is going to have a wife come to him. The girls name is Corinna. During church, Read stares at Jocelyn. Christopher (Ben Starr) lets her know. Jocelyn approaches James and insults him in the streets. Verity (Niamh Walsh) seems surprised by Jocelyn. Redwick (Steven Waddington) visits Alice and requests to hold the baby. He tells her about his own baby that died when it was really young.
Later that night, Christopher treats Meredith Rutter (Dean Lennox Kelly) for gout. He also learns about Castell’s last business dealings. The following day, Alice lays down with little Silas in the fields. When she wakes up, the baby is gone. Temperance (Claire Cox) preaches to Maria, Pedro and the other workers. Maria chimes in and tells Temperance that Pedro is a hero. He tells her his battle stories. Alice tells her family about the baby. Silas tells Henry about his arrangement with Chacrow. They decide to head for the Pamunkey camp immediately. Pepper (Luke Roskell) tries to join them, but he is left behind. Redwick visits Christopher and asks for a sleeping aid. Pedro asks Maria what she is hiding in the woods. She doesn’t listen. Back at home, Alice remains mum and doesn’t tells Jocelyn or Verity about Silas and Chacrow.
Mercy complains about God and throws stones at him. Henry and Silas speak about the baby. Silas wants to know whether Henry believes the child might be his. He doesn’t answer. Chacrow pays Alice another visit. Pepper goes for a gun. Chacrow learns about the baby and promises he had nothing to do with it. Pepper manages to scare him off. Alice turns her attention to Maria. They pay her a visit, but Maria denies everything. George learns about the baby and decides to visit the Pamunkey camp. Pedro joins the militia. Temperance tells Jocelyn and Verity about Alice leaving her baby behind before. She encourages them to speak with her about it. Edgar Massinger (Tony Pitts) visits Christopher with an eye infection of sorts. He admits that he doesn’t fully trust the governor. Henry and Silas search the Pamunkey camp, but find nothing. That night, Jocelyn visits James.
Jocelyn shows that she is likely jealous of Read’s feelings for Alice. She promises that she just wants the child found. Verity asks Alice whether she might have left the baby behind and forgot about it. Alice promises that she did, but questioned herself that numerous times. George and his army encounter Henry and Silas. They soon encounter Indians. George speaks with the chief, who denies everything. The conversation is heated. George promises to return ready for war, if the baby is not returned. Christopher speaks with Jocelyn. He wonders where Redwick might be the spy. Chacrow speaks with the chief and learns that one of the Indians took the baby. He agrees to let one of his sisters marry Henry in exchange for the baby. Chacrow heads for the fishing camp and retrieves the baby.
Soon, Maria spots the baby floating down the river in a canoe. Alice and the others race out to save the baby. That night, Pedro forces Maria to show him what is in the woods. Meanwhile, Rutter drinks the tea for his gout. The following day, Mercy returns and apologizes to God. She tells Pepper that the baby’s return was a miracle.
Jamestown Review
This episode of Jamestown was decent. The Pamunkey Indians finally became fed up with Silas and his lies. They took action by stealing his baby. Nevertheless, Chacrow came through and returned the baby. He will also arranged for one of his sisters to marry Henry. Jocelyn proved that she is willing to betray her friends to win points with the Governor. However, it seems that she still fancies James Read. The episode was pretty good. It scores a 7.5 out of 10.
