Hotel Cocaine Season 1 Episode 8 Finale Recap

Andrew Valeria Hotel Cocaine Netflix

The Price – The season 1 finale begins with Roman Compte (Danny Pino) and Nestor Cabal (Yul Vazquez) learning that Valeria (Corina Bradley) and Andrew Langston (Cale Ambrozic) managed to escape the attacked restaurant without incident. In addition to an APB, Agent Dominic Zulio (Michael Chiklis), has all his contacts from Miami to Atlanta on high alert. Roman isn’t happy with the lackadaisical approach being taken to ensure Valeria’s safety but Nestor is nearly beside himself after learning that Peter Cunningham (Geoffrey Blake) has pulled his immunity deal.

Hidden on Lazy Bones at the Miami Marina, Valeria and Andrew debate their next move. Yolanda (Mayra Hermosillo) and Gliberto ‘La Cobra’ Henao’s (Juan Pablo Raba) debate about how to proceed is nowhere near as composed and eventually leads to him smacking her. Marisol (Tania Watson) and Roman’s discussion is only slightly better after she returns to Nestor’s to find him readying an arsenal. Roman wastes little time telling her that she was right and asks her to be there for Valeria when he gets her back.

Elsewhere, Nestor reaches out to Hal (Sam Robards) for help with tracking down Valeria. Although the meeting is brief, it reveals that Hal has a past connection with both Nestor and Roman as their commander. In addition, Hal appears to have a wealth of CIA resources at his disposal. He only agrees to help once Nestor promises to bring Roman back into the fight.

Several men make a move on Vlaeria and Andrew at the marina but do not get far thanks to Zulio’s intervention. After quickly dispatching them men that boarded the boat, he declares himself a friend of the family. It’s only minutes later when Roman and Nestor learn that Zulio will now be leveraging Valeria until the coke deal is completed successfully. This is when Nestor tells Roman about his continued relationship with Hal and selling coke to finance their campaign to take back Cuba. Being that Roman blames Hal for Estela’s (Anel Perdomo Prieto), he wastes little time letting Neestor know his true feelings.

While Zulio tells Valeria the truth about detaining her at his home, Burton Greenberg (Mark Feuerstein) excitedly reveals Ray Dorado’s (Erniel Baez) death to Janice Nichols (Laura Gordon). She doesn’t share his enthusiasm and becomes even more concerned upon learning about his meeting with Nestor.

La Cobra is in the middle of apologizing to Yolanda when he learns about Zulio’s Marina intervention. As further arrangements are made to retrieve Valeria, Zulio discovers that Cunningham has brought in a special tac team from Fort Benning, Georgia to assist with the operation. After Zulio tells his Supervisor (Ryan Bannon) that he wants to put Valeria in foster care, Cunninghman orders him to bring the girl in. Roman’s meeting with Hal isn’t much better but thanks to Nestor playing mediator, they appear to come to an agreement for the moment.

Roman apologizes to Marisol while simultaneously updating her on everything that’s occurred. At the same time, Valeria shares her family’s history with Maya (Geraldine Zinat). The history lesson doesn’t get far due to the unexpected arrival of La Cobra and Yolanda’s man. Although it’s not shown at the time, Zulio returns later to find Valeria gone and Maya shot in the head. La Cobra is nearly just as outraged when he learns that Yolanda took the unnecessary risk of having Maya killed.

Before Roman learns about Zulio’s newfound pursuit for revenge, he is approached by Janice. She professes her feelings for him and admits to seeing him and Yolanda getting intimate yesterday. Much to her surprise, he admits to still caring for Marisol and claims the lapse with Yolanda was nothing more than a business arrangement.

Once the coke is dropped and gathered in the sugarcane field, it is taken by several flatbeds to a nearby warehouse. While Roman takes out several of Yolanda’s guards and approaches her boat, Zulio and his DEA agents make their presence known at the warehouse. It’s not long before both scenes are complete pandemonium. Both kill their way towards their goals. Roman eventually finds Valeria safe and sound while Zulio kills Yolanda and La Cobra. He’s arrested seconds later by Hal and his CIA cohorts for colluding with Congressman Landon (Nick Barkla) to import cocaine through Cuba.

Later that evening after getting Valeria’s approval, Roman proposes to Marisol. Once she agrees, Roman later learns that Estle is alive.

Hotel Cocaine Season 1 Finale Review

The episode obviously ended with the intent of another season. As of right now, it’s unclear whether the series has been renewed or not. It wasn’t half bad but it certainly was great. It had some incredibly lame parts and the incessant persuasion of Cubans became a bit much at times. I wasn’t expecting Estela to be alive but can’t say that the plot was entirely shocking. I’d have to give the final a 5 out of 10.
