As the episode begins, a woman’s decapitated body is discovered on the railroad tracks. After the intro, Soroya Dass (Mirrah Foulkes) continues investigating Robin Quinn. She discovers that Quinn was reported missing by his spouse Stephanie Tolson (Anna Lise Phillips). She receives a call from Daniel (Ioan Gruffudd). He asks her out, but she insists she is going to keep going on the case. Harrow sees something on the television about the Chinese mining giant Xiagreen making a deal in Australia. Dass stops the river bones from being cremated. The following day, Daniel arrives at the railroad track. He learns about the victim, 22-year-old Lotte Bentsen (Anna Mathiassen). She was a Danish media student. Dass notes that the scene doesn’t have much blood. A short time later, Sue Latchford (Doris Younane) arrives and rushes the investigation, because the trains are being delayed.
Daniel tries to call Fern (Ella Newton), but she doesn’t answer. Dass asks Bryan Nichols (Damien Garvey) about Robert Quinn. He admits that Quinn was hated by everyone especially Daniel. Stephanie learns that her hours are being cut at work. Dass joins Harrow and Simon (Remy Hii) at the lab. They begin inspecting Lotte’s body. They discover weird marks on her knees. They agree that suicide was unlikely. Dass explains that Lotte’s parents said she was happy. A nightclub stamp is found on her arm and a hand of sorts is found under Lotte’s nails. The victim had unprotected sex. A swab is taken. In private, Dass asks Simon about Harrow’s divorce. Simon admits he wasn’t around, but was there when Steph got remarried. He admits Harrow was angry at the time. Harrow and Simon visit the crime scene to look for blood. They’re unable to find any.
Steph’s finances continue to worsen. She gets a visit from Dass, who tells her about Quinn possibly being dead. Harrow takes his information to Nichols. Callan (Hunter Page-Lochard) scares Fern. He tells her that his uncle died and they can take his house. The house is three hours away. The river bones are returned. Harrow takes the credit and is belittled by Maxine (Robyn Malcolm). Steph calls Harrow and asks about Quinn. She wants to get his insurance money. That night, Harrow finds Dass on his boat. She asks him if he killed Quinn. He denies it. Fern watches them kiss from a distance. She leaves without speaking to Daniel. Nichols shows Daniel and Dass video from Lotte’s social media accounts. This introduces them to her friend Janik Hartmann (Ari Boyland). Unfortunately, Hartmann is missing and won’t answer his phone. Steph goes through Quinn’s old belongings. She is interrupted by Fern. When Jesse (Uli Latukefu) arrives outside, Fern leaves.
Daniel calls a friend and learns about anise myrtle, which is used in moisturizers. This leads them to a single company. This eventually leads them to an expensive motel. When they enter, lawyers are already waiting. After a warrant is obtained, the team watches surveillance video. Steph takes Quinn’s toothbrush to Simon. Sue tries to get Nichols to slow the investigation. He refuses. They find video of Lotte entering with Hartmann. They pair went to the penthouse. They check out the penthouse and it is clear that it has been cleaned thoroughly. The video never shows them leaving. They’re led to a parking garage with no cameras. A grate on the ground that matches the marks on Lotte’s knees. Harrow believes that blood could be inside. Hartmann’s body is discovered. He has cling wrap on a portion of his teeth. When the body is transported to the morgue, Maxine won’t let them perform the autopsy.
The German Embassy is stopping it from happening. Maxine shows them a video of a rented vehicle leaving the motel. After a little back and forth, Harrow and Dass conclude that Harry Wei (Gary Young), who is involved with the Chinese company, was somehow involved and is being protected. Harrow is kidnapped and threatened to stop investigating Wei. Police arrive at Steph’s house for protection. Harrow learns about a party celebrating the business deal in Australia. He manages to get inside and speak with Wei. Wei admits to being involved. He explains that he can’t face a scandal or thousands would lose their jobs. Harrow is escorted out. Back at the lab, it is confirmed that Wei’s semen was found in Lotte. A burned vehicle is discovered. They learn that Wei has already left the country. Fern tries to call Steph, but she doesn’t answer. Simon tells Harrow that they weren’t able to get DNA from the toothbrush.
Dass tracks Quinn’s cellphone activity. She joins Harrow, while Quinn’s car is pulled from the water.
Harrow Review
This episode of Harrow was pretty good. A bit cliché, but pretty good nevertheless. The Quinn storyline is beginning to pick up. I even thought the Fern side story was decent this episode. I am beginning to wonder if Fern might have killed Quinn and Daniel helped cover it up. Only time will tell. The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Harrow now!
