Simon (Remy Hii) begins digging through the evidence on Francis Chester (Grant Bowler). Stephanie (Anna Lise Phillips) visits Daniel. They speak about Fern’s case. Stephanie admits that they’re going to need a lot of money for her defense. Daniel tells her that he will pay, but there are a few more things he wants to look into. Next, Maxine (Robyn Malcolm) informs Daniel and Grace (Jolene Anderson) that they’re going to be sent to Port Astor. Laurie Badcoe is injured and needs their help. He is the one who performed the work on Chester’s body.
Daniel learns that Simon has been researching the Francis case. He encourages him to stop. Next, Gabriel Capello (Richard Brancatisano) greets Daniel and Grace at the airport. They learn that one of the local Parks and Conversation officers has died. The group meets with Laurie (Geoff Morrell) at the hospital. They also meet with Janelle Freeman (Rachel Hunt). She worked with the victim, Ben Raza (Joshua Nicholson). Freeman tells them about the rare species found nearby. It is their job to monitor the numbers. Meanwhile, Simon returns to Brendan Skene (Erroll Shand). He checks the man’s eyes.
He consults with Lyle (Darren Gilshenan) about Skene’s cause of death. Simon pretends he is sick so he can get out of work. Meanwhile, Fern (Ella Newton) begins stalking a man, Tim Markides (Anthony Standish), she believes stole the drugs. She eventually arrives at his house. Fern goes through the man’s garbage. Callan (Hunter Page-Lochard) speaks with Francis about cooking for his girlfriend. Daniel and Grace start the autopsy. Daniel believes that Capello is interested in Grace. Daniel finds Jellyfish stingers on the man’s stomach. The man also has lesions in his throat. It appears that he swallowed a nest full of bees or jellyfish. Daniel discovers that the man has jellyfish in his stomach.
They go to the nearby aquarium. After speaking with Ash (Jack Martin) outside, they head in and meet with Robert Chaudhari (Sachin Joab). Robert doesn’t want the investor dinner to be disturbed by the investigation. Then, they chat with Vicki Malisano (Ellen Bailey) about the jellyfish. She tells them that the jellyfish could kill a person in a few minutes. Daniel has evidence sent back to Simon. They head outside and encounter Mr. and Mrs. Oadir. They have some strange suitcases. The couple is very pleasant. Daniel calls Simon. He learns that he is sick and staying away from work. We see that Simon is actually investigating Skene and Francis.
Simon speaks with Skene’s ex-wife. Stephanie meets with Callan. She encourages him to go to the police and tell them that he was responsible for the drugs. Capello and Grace head to the beach. Capello realizes that Grace wants to be with Daniel. They sit down and speak about Daniel. Daniel visits Laurie. Laurie promises that he did a thorough autopsy on Francis. He says something about captivity and that gives Daniel a clue. Grace meets with him at the office in the morning. Daniel is convinced that Ben was alive when he swallowed the jellyfish. He calls Lyle and learns that the stomach contained traces of methylthioninum chloride or methylene blue. The stuff is commonly used in aquariums.
They visit Vicki. She admits to having an affair with Ben. However, he explains that she hasn’t used methylene blue in a very long time. She knows who does though. She points them towards Robert Chaudhari. He isn’t willing to give them a sample without a warrant. Capello begins working to secure a warrant right away. Daniel and Grace decide to attend the investor dinner that night. They find a way in and begin looking for ways to get a sample. Daniel sneaks off on his own. He finds the suitcases belonging to the Oadir couple. Inside, he finds rare fish. They’re poachers. He is confronted by Freeman and Ash. Freeman has been selling rare fish to foreign investors.
They take him outside and prepare to shoot him. Instead, Daniel and Ash fall into the water. A struggle ensues. Grace rushes outside and tackles Freeman. The gun drops into the water. Ash and Freeman are arrested a short time later. Daniel calls Simon and tries to find out what he is really up to. Fern pieces together a letter from the insurance company. She believes that Tim stole the drugs to fund his gambling habit. Harrow visits Laurie before leaving town. Simon meets with Ross Moran (Brad McMurray). Simon believes Ross wrote Skene’s letters for him. When Skene was moved to a new cell, he met with Francis. Francis wrote his letters from that point forward.
Simon is punched in the jaw. Ross tells him to never mentioned this conversation to anyone. Nobody talks about Francis Chester. Simon tries to call Harrow. Unfortunately, the battery is dead. Simon meets with someone on a boat. He turns around it sees Francis approaching him. It appears that Simon is attacked right before the episode ends.
Harrow Review
This episode was pretty good. However, I am concerned that the writers are going to kill off Simon. That would be a big blow to the show. After all, Simon has consistently been one of the best characters. The case of the shark bite victim was very interesting. It is easy to tell that someone involved in the show knows what they’re talking about. Each case is strange and well thought out. Someone working with the production crew definitely knows about autopsies and such.
The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous Harrow recaps before you go!
