Parable Of Drawing In The Net – The episode begins by showing Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo) enjoying a cup of coffee outside his tent. When he is joined by Harrison Chambers (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), they see an owl. Harrison tells him that it is a bad omen. Elsewhere, the Provost Brothers arrive at Lake Piru’s Visitor’s Center. They try getting access to the water supply, but now realize it has a gate around it. Not long after this, one of the brothers sees Hampton and Harrison pull up.
While Hampton is inside the Center, Jean-Guy Provost introduces himself to Harrison and says he remembers him from family day at Chino. He also recognizes the feather that Harrison is carrying around. Before Jean-Guy can say anything else about Rudy (Adam Beach), Hampton comes out and runs Harrison off. Hampton asks Jean-Guy if he is following him and tells him he has his money. Jean-Guy tells him that he doesn’t want the money and leaves.
As Hampton is walking back to join Harrison, he gets caught in another fisherman’s net. This causes him to drop the money on the ground that he got from the heist. The fisherman grabs it, but it doesn’t take Hampton long to realize, and a chase ensues. Hampton eventually catches up to him and gets the money back.
While Hampton and Harrison fish, Jean-Guy and his brothers go into the Center and ask Frida (London Garcia) about the gated water supply. She tells them she doesn’t have a key, and the state put up the fence to stop people from stealing water. She ends up telling them the name of the ranger who has the key, but she doesn’t know where he lives.
The Provost Brothers cut the lock to the water supply and transfer the water to their tanker. While doing so, Hank pulls up. There is a bit of a standoff, but Hand ends up pulling his weapon. When he does, one of the Provost Brothers shoots him in the foot. They empty the contents from the bed of his truck and stick him back there.
Elsewhere, Hampton and Harrison are fishing when Hampton asks him why he wanted Rudy to be out and not him. Harrison tells him that he is embarrassed by him. Hampton tells him that he is trying to be something he is not. Harrison then says that Hampton likes Einstein Chambers (Evan Ellison) more. Hampton tells him that he loves them both equally but Einstein is more fun to be around because he is a butthole. Their conversation ends when Hampton gets a huge bite on his rod. The rod ends up breaking, and he goes over the boat into the lake, where he is swallowed by what appears to be a whale. Hampton begins talking about being on the wrong path and begging for his life while Harrison heads back onto shore.
Harrison rushes back to the visitor’s center, where he tells the clerk that his dad fell into Necktie Canyon. The clerk calls the rangers and makes a report. Hampton is still begging for his life and making promises to give the money back when he is spit out. When he surfaces, he notices that Harrison is gone, so he swims to what appears to be the ranger’s cooler. While this takes place, Harrison goes back to camp to look for Hampton, but he isn’t there. Harrison grabs the fireworks and lights them. By the time he does this, Hampton has made it ashore and sees them. He begins heading in that direction and winds up at the campsite, where Harrison is now in tears. They end up laughing about the whole ordeal.
Later that day, Harrison and Hampton are packing up when the ranger appears. He asks them if there is a man missing. Harrison tells him about the near drowning, and the officer tells them to have a good day.
The episode ends with an old lady calling the Chatsworth Police Department to report something in her chimney. When she is shown, there is a shot of a shoe in her fireplace.
Government Cheese Review
This was another decent episode that focused equally on Harrison and Hampton. It is always nice to see the father and son together because they are so much alike that it isn’t even funny. The two of them are always a great time, and it’s nice to send them mend their relationship a little bit at a time. There were a couple of scary encounters, but they managed to make it. What’s up with the old lady at the end of the episode? I guess we’ll find out in the next episode. I’d give this one a 5.7 out of 10.
