Goosebumps: The Vanishing Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Welcome To Camp Nightmare – The episode begins with a tour guide in 1968 at Fort Jerome. The overbearing tour guide is eventually pulled off the side of a cliff by the oily substance.

In the present, Frankie (Galilea La Salvia) returns to the Brewer house where Cece Brewer (Jayden Bartels) tells her that Trey Jiminez (Stony Blyden) might know something about the woman who took Anthony Brewer (David Schwimmer). At the same time, Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) tries to find Hannah Parker (Elois Payet) in one of Matty Brewer’s (Christopher Paul Richards) old yearbooks. CJ (Elijah M Cooper) soon interrupts to announce that his mother has hired a new delivery guy to replace him. Things don’t get much further thanks to Trey showing up with a 20/20 episode of the 1994 disappearance that also features Dr. Ramona Pamani (Sakina Jaffrey). A quick Internet search only turns up one result, a book about global risk management by Dr. Abi Pamani (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Devin, Frankie, and Trey make plans to visit Frankie’s mother at the hospital in hopes of tracking down Ramona while Cece, CJ, and Alex (Francesca Noel) try to track down the book.

While Anthony is in the cocoon/pod, he dreams or fantasizes about being in his basement. At the same time, Frankie uses her connection with her mother at the hospital to get Ramona’s license plate number. Trey says they can run the plates at his dad’s shop.

Jen (Ana Ortiz) visits Anthony to find out what is on the tape. Instead, she finds Joe Jr. (Wayne Lopez), who tells hers about the kids rushing out of the house earlier. Jen uses her connection with the police to track Alex’s ankle monitor.

Trey, Frankie, and Devin follow Ramona’s Range Rover to the warehouse where they meet up with Alex, Cece, and CJ. While at the warehouse, Devin finds Anthony’s shirt in a biohazard bin. Cece finds Ramona’s journal, dated all the way back to 1969.

In 1969, at the Fort, Young Ramona (Sahana Srinivasan) and Ari introduce several men to the Orion Project. After giving them a brief rundown of their role and the facility, they take them underground and introduce them to what looks like an organic hovering UFO. Six months later, the team develops a working serum that they test on a live rat. Shortly after this, Ramona asks her father what the purpose of the Orion Project is. He tells her that it is to assess and observe but she clearly doesn’t believe him and even accuses him of using the serum as a weapon. He tells her that if it will prevent the death of every man and woman on the planet then he will use it that way.

The other men on the Project share Ramona’s opinion and when it comes time to test the serum on the ship, they back out. Ari proceeds alone and the serum appears to work, but after he leaves, the first cocooned victim comes to life, escapes, and cancels the serum. By the time the whole facility goes on alert and Ari makes it to Ramona, the ship has begun to fight back. Ari eventually helps Ramona escape and locks down the facility. Before doing so, he tells her it is now her job to keep the entity contained. Shortly after this, she finds a last will in his safe, basically saying the same thing.

At this point, Ramona interrupts the group and isn’t too happy about the intrusion. After a bit of back and forth, the Cece convinces her to go back into the fort to save Anthony. Although she agrees, she tells them they don’t have much time.

The episode ends by showing Anthony being attacked by the oily substance in his basement.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing Review

Now that the whole story is out, I’d have to say Goosebumps 2 had a much more interesting story than Goosebumps 1. Both were good, but if I had to choose one, I’d choose Goosebumps 2. For me, it is the UFO and government conspiracy aspects that I find so intriguing. Just one more episode and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together. I’d give this episode a 5.7 out of 10.
