Found Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

Gabi and Margaret episode 2 found recap

Missing While Sinning – As the second episode of Found begins, Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) exercises and reads. In a flashback, Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) comes home to ask if she is ready for her surprise. He says it has been one year since they became family. Gabi keeps telling him it isn’t her birthday until he gets mad and tells her she won’t eat at all if she doesn’t blow out the candle. Margaret Reed (Kelli Williams) still hangs out at the bus station waiting to see if her son will arrive. Zeke Wallace (Arlen Escarpeta) gets food delivered while Dhan Rana (Karan Oberoi) kisses his husband (Lee Osorio). Gabi does an interview on television with Joy-Ann Reid.

Gabi insists it doesn’t haunt her that her kidnapper was never found because she took the power back. A man and woman talk to Gabi’s team about their missing friend Jinny Coe (Najah Bradley) who is a sex worker. Maxwell Pierce (Arthur Langlie) and Ashley Lin (Janna Koffman) reveal that she had a stalker. They’re not sure if she met the stalker at work. They’re told they came to the right place. As the team discusses Jinny’s case, they say she took the trash out and never came back. Her roommate, Maxwell, reported her missing the next morning. Margaret admits that she believes Maxwell’s story that he passed out after a party and didn’t realize she was missing until he woke up. There was a mother in the picture until three years ago.

She learned of Jinny’s career choice and stopped talking to her before moving to Virginia. Jinny worked for Flowers in Bloom which is an online escort service. Lacey Quinn (Gabrielle Walsh) says Jinny believed her stalker would take her one day and no one would be able to do anything about it. Zeke says he hacked into the Flowers in Bloom website so the client list is currently downloading. Joy-Ann Reid tells Gabi that they’re holding a tip hotline dedicated to finding her kidnapper, Hugh Evans or Sir. Gabi approaches Mark Trent (Brett Dalton) to find out who is handling Jinny’s case and who handled the stalker one. He says the missing person case is being handled by Detective Stultz.

The stalker case was originally his. Mark explains they get 300 online stalker and harassment cases in one month so it is impossible to remember them all. The unwanted gifts turned into anonymous calls. Margaret approaches Maxwell because she doesn’t think he and Jinny are roommates. Maxwell admits he lost his apartment a few months ago due to money issues. Thanks to Jinny, he didn’t have to go back to his parents. Once Lacey arrives, Margaret asks about the painting that was on the wall. Maxwell doesn’t seem to remember anything being there. When Gabi returns to her basement, Sir complains that she has been ignoring him. Once he looks at the paperwork, he says this woman doesn’t deserve his brilliance or hers.

He goes on to claim she is better off dead. Gabi says he won’t eat until he obeys. In a flashback, Sir speaks to Gabi about charm bracelets. Then, he asks if he has ever hurt her or touched her inappropriately. Gabi says he is keeping her away from her father. Sir takes her food from her. Lacey and Zeke talk about a nosy neighbor who saw Jinny take out her trash at 2:30 AM and doesn’t remember seeing her come back. Lacey asks if he’ll check to see if the hotline got any new leads on Sir. Gabi returns and says she can’t reach Jinny’s mother. The artwork has been a bust. They go through the client suspects, including Franklin Isaacs, Brandon Harper, and Chelsea Nima.

All had prior run-ins with law enforcement and joined Flowers in Blood just before the stalking started. Two of the three wanted Jinny specifically. Gregory Garcia (Juan Carlos Flores) stalked his ex for months until she got a restraining order. He was one of Jinny’s first clients three years ago. A week before she went missing, he booked a meeting with her. Dhan is put in charge of client interviews. Zeke gets a package, but it is too far from the door to get. Gabi and Mark do a press conference about Jinny’s disappearance. When interviewed, Franklin Isaacs (Tom Olson) says Jinny changed his life. He only paid for her companionship. He asks Margaret if she is going to tell his wife. Chelsea Nima (Hannah Pniewski) refuses to speak to them because they’re not cops.

Brandon Harper (Joaquin Montes) says he knows nothing and wants them off of his property. Later, Margaret tells Dhan that Brandon is really protective of Jinny before saying she needs to get back to the bus station. Margaret notices that he wasn’t judgmental of Jinny being a sex worker, but he is judgmental of Zeke’s trauma and how he copes. Dhan says he doesn’t like him, but he tolerates him for Gabi. When he sees Gregory Garcia, he calls his name only for Gregory to flee. Once he is caught, he is brought to Gabi for questioning. She tells him that he is on probation for online stalking so he isn’t allowed to be online. Gabi wants to know everything he knows. Zeke calls to complain about his package not being delivered close enough to his door.

After the call, he decides to check Jinny’s deliveries. Mark visits Gabi who is busy looking through evidence. He tells her that Gregory’s alibi checked out. Mark is confident they’ll find her and that they’ll find Sir one day too. In a flashback, Gabi reads a script. Sir tells her well done although he refuses to let her call her dad. He doesn’t want her to ask again. He realizes she is lonely so he thinks they can compromise. Dhan’s husband finds him working late. They talk about Zeke. Dhan admits it offends him that Zeke doesn’t want to fight his condition. His husband reminds him that he used to say that about himself too. He believes Zeke reminds him of himself at his worst. Zeke calls to tell Dhan he found something with a delivery to Jinny’s home before she disappeared.

Gabi visits Sir in the basement. She offers to help him groom himself if he helps with Jinny’s case. He is adamant that the stalker is not a client. The stalker would still be in pursuit of the unfulfilled fantasy. In the morning, Jinny’s mother Louise shows up at Gabi’s office. Gabi tells everyone they’re not looking for a client. Zeke says they should start by looking where Jinny spent most of her time outside of work. The art gallery would be a good starting point. They know that she visited an art gallery twice a week every week. The painting that is missing from her home is a Gradeux painting. Gabi believes they’re connected. Dhan and Gabi speak to Marsha (Michelle Civile) at the art gallery.

Marsha says Jinny was on a date with someone there. He made a pass at her and she gently avoided the kiss. The friend left mad. She identifies Maxwell as being the friend in question. Gabi and Dhan grab him to ask him about the argument and getting a large deposit in his account on the same day. Maxwell asks for a lawyer. Gabi says they’re not cops. He admits he was falling for Jinny. He denies doing anything to her. When Mark arrives, Maxwell asks for his help. After the gallery, Maxwell believes Jinny’s stalker reached out. He offered to give Maxwell $4,000 if he told him where Jinny’s location was on her birthday. Maxwell promises that he gave a fake location. They must’ve found out because she disappeared that night anyway. That’s why he came to them.

Margaret believes he is telling the truth. Mark arrests him for obstruction of justice. She notices a clicker that wasn’t there before and remembers that Brandon had one too. Zeke still can’t get the package. He tries to go out and get it, but ends up collapsing on the stairs. When Mark and Gabi visit Brandon’s house, they see someone fleeing. When they stop Jinny, she says she doesn’t want to be found. She admits Brandon is helping her hide. Jinny staged her disappearance because she got tired of looking over her shoulder. She realized her stalker had been in her house on the night of her birthday because there were dead roses on her bed. At that moment, she realized that she either kills herself or disappears and starts over.

The only thing she went back for was the painting. Lacey tells her what she went through and that she still hasn’t gotten over the loss. They need to find Jinny’s stalker so they can return her to her life. Mark suggests using Jinny as bait, but Gabi doesn’t want to do that. Instead, she says they can use someone else. Maxwell is tasked with luring the stalker out. Zeke is still knocked out on his steps. Dhan finds him and helps him get back inside. Then, the operation to catch the stalker begins. They’re surprised when Marsha approaches Maxwell. She is taken down by police. Jinny is taken back to Gabi’s office where she sees her mom. Dhan asks Zeke what is in the package since he risked that for it. Zeke says today is the anniversary of his Pop Pop’s passing.

They have their annual family reunion on this day and light the same candle in his memory. Zeke needed his blue candle. Dhan takes care of his wound. Everyone celebrates Jinny coming home. While Gabi grooms Sir, he says it’ll be his 1-year anniversary with her in a few months. He reminds her that he got her a present that arrived eight days later. In a flashback, Sir begins targeting another girl who may be Lacey. In the present, Lacey studies the sketch of Sir or Hugh Evans.

Found Review

The second episode of Found had some bright spots, but many aspects of the story make the series ludicrous. This series shouldn’t be humorous, but it is sometimes because the scenes are so farfetched. Much like other recent shows, there isn’t much investigating in each episode. Instead, the characters just happen to stumble upon items, people, or situations that lead them to the truth.

As a result, most of everything that happened prior to that feels like filler. In this episode, Jinny was found because Margaret noticed a clicker in the house. A few things before that were important, but many of them were not. It is still difficult to accept the whole Sir situation because it is so unbelievable.

On the other hand, some of the character relationships are interesting. At the very least, this could be a guilty pleasure that will kill an hour every week. With a better script though, this could’ve been so much better. This episode scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of Found are available on Reel Mockery here.
