Finding Alice Season 6 Finale Recap

george and ralph finding alice finale

As the episode begins, Alice (Keeley Hawes) enjoys a shower while remembering happier times with Harry. Once she finishes, she gets dressed and sits the syringe nearby. She goes downstairs, grabs the sperm, and watches an instructional video for injecting it into her body. Nicola comes in and scares her making her scream. Alice yells for Nicola to get out before Charlotte (Isabella Pappas) enters. After the intro, Alice checks on Charlotte in her bedroom and apologizes for screaming so loud. Alice admits she was trying to get in the mood before injecting Harry’s sperm, but Charlotte finds that odd. Graham contacts Alice later and apologizes for the kiss. Nicola (Sharon Rooney) approaches and tells Alice she liked her gear last night. Alice tells her about her difficulties so Nicola argues she needs a “Before I Can Inseminate Myself” to-do list.

Alice says she wants to get money from the sale of the flats and build on Harry’s land. She goes on to say she wants to win Minnie and Gerry over as Nicola writes down everything. Moments later, Alice calls George (George Webster) to tell him he is on her to-do list and she needs him to sign the papers. She looks through the mail before hanging up on George. Alice receives good news so she calls Yasmina to tell her the environmental order has been lifted. The only downside is that there are a few conditions including that the development must have a general practice surgery and at least 30% affordable housing. Yasmina believes Harry would’ve wanted that anyway. Alice decides to visit Patti and Tanvi (Ayesha Dharker) who reveals they got an offer they couldn’t refuse. Tanvi offers to buy the land once again but Alice says she can persuade her in-laws not to sell.

Tanvi isn’t sure about that since they’ll need to pay the inheritance out. Then, Alice tells her that planning has been granted and accuses her of having a hand in the planning permission getting withdrawn. Tanvi threatens to sue if she repeats that in public. She also says it is going to be hard to make a profit with the council’s demands and suggests Alice will need an experienced developer like her. Alice makes it clear she isn’t going to let her get involved. Later, Alice meets with George and contemplates contacting Graham back. George reveals he has found an investor who is interested in Alice’s development. He wants legal advice before signing away his inheritance and Alice doesn’t like that. Nicola interrupts with an awkward joke and says Ed will be coming soon to try to retrieve Harry’s photos from the computer.

Alice prefers that Ed not do that so George offers to help since he has always been a hacker of sorts. It takes George just a few seconds to retrieve the photographs. It is finished by the time Ed arrives. Graham calls again and asks Alice out for tea. Roger (Nigel Havers) enters and tells Alice he has left her mother. He explains he had enough and decided to move out. Charlotte joins them and they sit down so Roger can explain why he decided to leave. Alice says he could’ve kicked Keith in the balls and took Sarah to Paris but Roger says Keith is a super bloke. Roger isn’t sure how long he’ll stay but he believes it’ll be fun. He opens wine and asks both about Internet dating. Next, Alice asks Charlotte to take the day off but Charlotte doesn’t seem eager to do that. Charlotte tells her to take her to school so she won’t be late. Then, she tells her mother she should think about how Harry would behave if she died.

Charlotte believes he would’ve handled it better because Alice has been acting demented. Alice gets angry and says she has been acting like a human but Charlotte has been acting like a zombie. They argue about the baby before Alice forces her daughter to get into the car. Next, Nathan (Rhashan Stone) walks through the halls before Alice runs into him. She wants to talk because nobody has been looking after her. She soon finds out that another couple is dealing with loss so she apologizes to them. Nathan tells her that his marriage is falling apart and he wonders how his daughter in heaven would deal with a divorce. They cry and hold each other. Then, she tells Nathan about her kiss with Graham. He says she shouldn’t let that stop her from joining the group because he’ll make Graham sit on the other side of the room.

She tells him about her to-do list while Charlotte makes it home. Roger wants to talk about things but Charlotte is eager to rush to her room. She offers to help but Roger claims he is fine. Nicola shows up with alcohol so Charlotte is able to escape upstairs. Nicola makes it home and finds Nicola, Ed, and Roger dancing downstairs so she quickly joins them. She tries to find Charlotte but finds a note confirming that her daughter has run away. She returns downstairs and tells the others that Charlotte has moved out. She claims she is going to get Charlotte back and everyone will have to leave. She goes to Sarah (Joanna Lumley) and finds her hanging out with Keith (Michael Simkins). Sarah says she and Keith have gone back to being friends now that Roger isn’t happy with their relationship.

Charlotte enters and says she thinks she is going to stay for a bit. Sarah agrees to let her stay and Charlotte says she needs some peace now. Alice leaves without her daughter, parks on the side of the road, and cries. She checks her to-do list and realizes there is nothing to strike from the list. Meanwhile, Charlotte talks to Sarah about her mother’s attempt to get pregnant and says she thinks it is on hold now. Sarah tells Charlotte that her mom is right and she should let emotions go more. Charlotte admits there is a boy at school named Jayden she likes. They discuss Alice’s kindness and the fact that she was a good mother. Meanwhile, Alice arrives at home and checks her to-do list once again. At the bottom, it says she wants to make Charlotte happy. Alice calls Gerry (Kenneth Cranham) to tell him about their party to welcome George to the family.

She says the family needs to heal and talk again so this would be a good start. Gerry admits George is a big consolation tot him and Alice hopes it might entice Charlotte to come back. When they talk about Harry’s burial, Alice agrees to move Harry if it is necessary. Alice checks on Harry’s gravesite once the call ends. George calls to tell Alice that his investor wants to see the land. They arrange for that to happen tomorrow and Alice encourages him to bring the signed papers. Nicola comes outside and joins Alice. Nicola learns about the party she is going to throw for her before Nicola suggests doing a conga around Harry’s grave. Alice explains it is going to be held at Harry’s favorite club before Roger comes and joins them. When Graham calls, Alice asks how people record conversations on their phones. Graham apologizes and says he can’t do it because his childcare was canceled.

When the call ends, Alice says she needs to remind him that he still owes her 15 grand. Nicola rubs their hug in Alice’s face before Alice decides to visit Graham in person. She is introduced to Big Boy Barney before they discuss their kid’s favorite activities. Graham apologizes again for the kiss before Graham checks on his son. Alice asks to use the bathroom and learns it is under the stairs. She enters the kitchen and leaves in a hurry but Graham follows her. He asks her about seeing the kitchen and says he invited her over to explain it. He says he got the measurements wrong, but Alice accuses him of buying the kitchen to get closer to her. She tells him how difficult it was to remove the house and says he’ll need to sell it and pay her the balance from that. She leaves and drives by her mother’s house to watch Charlotte through the window.

The following day, Yasmina and Alice meet with George and Ralph at Harry’s land. Ralph makes it clear that affordable housing isn’t good for them so Alice wonders if he is a prick. Yasmina says Harry liked to make money but he had a social conscience. Alice doesn’t like Ralph’s attitude so she tells him where he can go. Alice apologizes to George after Ralph leaves. When Alice returns home, she finds Gerry there. He confesses he tried to fight it but Alice is right and Harry is good there. She also learns the environmental group has agreed. Alice says they’ll need to work together to keep this house. Alice admits she hates Harry for what he did to them. She pleads with Gerry to help her develop the plot of land and make it something special. She also encourages him to adore Nicola the way he adored Harry. Next, everyone prepares for the upcoming party.

Charlotte arrives with Sarah. Alice talks to her mother and says this was supposed to be a moment of peace and reconciliation. Alice goes to Dan and encourages him to help their parents fix their marriage, but he isn’t sure it is a good idea. Roger and Sarah talk about their respective wardrobes. George arrives and tries to convince Alice to apologize to Ralph but Alice isn’t going to do that. George hasn’t signed the paperwork yet. He puts his phone in his pocket nervously before Alice takes his coat. When he walks away, she grabs his phone and tries to access it. George tracks her to the bathroom and asks about the phone. Alice uses his face to unlock the phone and listen to the conversation George had with Harry. George threatens to bash down the door as Alice continues listening to George’s conversation with Harry on the night of his passing.

Charlotte enters and hears the conversation turn into an argument before Harry goes crashing down the stairs. Alice sends Charlotte away before telling George she should play the recording to everyone including the police. She calls him poisonous before George grabs his phone and steps away. She follows him before George says he isn’t giving up any inheritance. He knows he is entitled to half of the inheritance along with Charlotte. Alice wants to know what Harry meant about having enough children running around, but George doesn’t know. Alice introduces everyone to George and asks them to mingle with him before Gerry and Minnie enter. Gerry says they should raise their glasses to their daughter Nicola who has suffered as much as everyone else. Alice goes to Tanvi and tries to convince her that they should work on the project together. Tanvi agrees to work with her.

When Tanvi’s children enter, Alice remembers what Harry said to George. Then, she remembers her visit to the sperm clinic. She asks Tanvi if the children belong to Harry and if he was the sperm donor. They say no and it never crossed their minds. When Alice returns home, he finds her kitchen along with a note that Graham wants his money back. George looks through Alice’s emails and finds one in which Yasmina wonders if they should try to mend bridges with Ralph. He looks at the security footage of the stairs where Harry fell just as Charlotte returns home to her mother. They sit downstairs while Alice looks through her to-do list before Charlotte tells Alice Sarah thinks she is a good mother. She admits Alice deserves to have more children. Charlotte breaks down and Alice comforts her. Later that night, Alice sits alone with the sperm.

She warms it up before grabbing the syringe. The episode ends before we see what happens.

Finding Alice Review

The finale was likely the best episode of the season, but I believe many will say it was too little too late. Perhaps it was? After all, a lot of things were left hanging but as I expected. The bereavement group didn’t matter in the end and neither did Alice’s relationship with Nathan. I wonder if they thought this show would get another season?

The finale was mostly satisfying but I wish this would’ve happened much sooner. Why couldn’t we get to the emotional stuff earlier in the season instead of wasting time with the flats, estate agents, and other stuff? The finale at least made this show worth my time.

It was pretty emotional at certain points during this episode and I would’ve liked to have seen more of this. The finale was good but it makes me question why they wasted 4 or 5 other episodes. It scores a 7.5 out of 10. Previous recaps of Finding Alice are available on Reel Mockery.
