As the third episode of Dead and Buried begins, Lena (Niamh Walsh) tries to get answers from Michael (Colin Morgan). Andrew (Michael Hanna) interrupts to ask about his phone. Lena reminds him they need to go and he’ll have to leave it. Sally is on the ground after being attacked. Gary Bowman (Ruairi Leneghan) finds her in the doorway. Cathy (Annabel Scholey) works with the kids at school. Gary calls her to say he’s at the hospital because Sally (Kerri Quinn) was assaulted last night. Detective Sergeant Cooper (Declan Rodgers) speaks to Cathy at the hospital. She tells him about going out and getting a taxi back. Cathy begins telling him about Michael and going to his house. Cooper learns that his name is Michael McAllister.
Cathy says she and Sally didn’t have a relationship with Michael before this. Raymie (Waj Ali) gets a message from Cathy. Lena finds a phone. Andrew and the others finish the test and leave. Raymie finds Andrew’s bottle and the answers written on the inside of the label. Cathy and Gary wait at the hospital. Gary says the police believe he did it since most of these things turn out to be domestic. Raymie tells Andrew that he’s being suspended for three days. Andrew asks about going to the disco tomorrow night. Raymie says no before asking whether he should tell his mom or dad. Cathy goes back to the restaurant and talks to Lena about her relationship woes. Lena says Michael was drunk when he rolled in past midnight. He also had cuts and bruises. He claims he doesn’t remember what happened. Raymie calls her to tell her Andrew was caught cheating.
Cathy overhears them and learns Raymie is dropping him off at home. Cathy tells Lena to be careful because a woman was attacked last night. In a flashback, Michael tells Cathy he hopes she knows what she’s doing. He believes her brother is a head case. Michael worries her brother will freak if he learns she’s seeing a Proddy. Cathy calls Detective Cooper to tell him what she found out about Michael. Cathy really believes she’s got Michael this time. Jack Sullivan (Owen Roe) goes to work and asks Michael about his night. Jack reminds him that reputation is everything in a place like this. He wants to know if Michael was with Sally who was attacked last night. Lena says Michael has blackouts and someone has reported him to the police. Jack prays for him. Michael gets upset, curses, and asks him to stop.
Jack says they can protect him or they can be the instruments of the Lord’s vengeance. Michael leaves. Sally wakes up. Gary is by her side. He asks if she remembers anything that happened. Michael makes it home. He apologizes to Lena for getting drunk and letting her down. She asks about Sally Bowman. Michael says that man is poisonous. He insists he didn’t attack her. Andrew interrupts. Lena reveals he’s been suspended for cheating. In private, Lena tells Michael she found Andrew’s phone outside Sally’s house. Cathy gets in touch with Gary who tells her how Sally is doing. Sally thinks what happened might have something to do with Cathy and Michael McAllister. Cathy suspects it was Michael although Sally doesn’t remember anything. Cathy asks Dr. Kennedy if she thinks it was her fault.
The doctor doesn’t think it’s for her to say. Kennedy asks if Cathy thinks it was her fault. Cathy doesn’t think Sally should’ve told Gary. Raymie also blames Cathy for stalking Michael. Cathy claims she was just keeping an eye on him. The doctor asks about her medication. Cathy leaves with a prescription that she crumbles up. She calls Cooper to ask if there has been an update. Cooper tells her Michael has been removed from the inquiries. Lena and Michael try to talk to Andrew. They tell him about the attack and his phone being found outside Sally’s house. Andrew says he was just curious and he must’ve dropped his phone there. Michael asks if he saw anyone else there. Andrew says no. Jack arrives to talk to Andrew about school. Andrew is taken back to Raymie’s classroom.
John tells Raymie that he has to lift the suspension because his grandfather is Jack Sullivan. John says Raymie didn’t help matters by driving him home without notifying anyone. This is also the second visit. John admits he’d have no choice but to suspend Raymie if they pursued it. Raymie returns to the class and continues. Later, Raymie learns Cathy still can’t get in touch with Sally. Later, Cathy drives Raymie while Michael talks to Andrew about his first school dance. Andrew says granddad says he murdered someone. Michael insists it wasn’t murder. He says it was manslaughter. Andrew believes he had an affair with that woman. Michael denies it. He says Sally isn’t going to die so she’ll be able to say if he attacked her. Cathy drops Raymie off at the dance.
Andrew is angry when he leaves Michael. Cathy keeps an eye on their vehicle from a distance. She follows Michael while Raymie supervises the school dance. Andrew ends up throwing up. Raymie takes him to the bathroom and offers him his hoodie since he’s thrown up on his. Andrew tells him that his dad went to prison for murder. Meanwhile, Michael drinks alone. Cathy watches Michael leave in his vehicle. Lena and John find Raymie holding a shirtless Andrew and trying to comfort him. Lena asks what type of school they’re running there. Cathy questions where Michael is going. Raymie calls her to ask if she can pick him up. Cathy claims she’s going to pick up Sasha from the sitter and she’ll swing by. Cathy ends up losing Michael who continues drinking and driving.
Lena complains about Andrew’s behavior until he gets out of the car. Lena gets out and tries to catch up with him but he’s already gone. She calls Michael and leaves a message letting him know about Andrew. It appears someone attacks Sally in her hospital room. She struggles until she stops moving.
Dead And Buried Review
The third episode of Dead and Buried was pretty straightforward with some silly moments scattered throughout. For instance, the scenes with Raymie and Andrew in the bathroom were odd. In fact, many aspects of Raymie’s story are strange, including driving Andrew home and nearly getting into trouble for it.
Other than that, the series has been mostly believable through three episodes. It’s easy to feel sorry for some of the characters, especially Sally and Lena. The overall quality of the series will probably depend heavily on the finale and how it plays out. Through three episodes, it has been decent and pleasant enough to watch.
