Colin From Accounts Review
This series of Colin From Accounts has become something entirely different considering how little the title character is in the show anymore. Nevertheless, there is potential for the series when it takes the story seriously. It really needs to decide whether it wants to be a comedy or a serious drama because trying to juggle these genres isn’t working at the moment.
Based on the possible death of Brian, it feels like the series could excel as something serious even if that was not the initial intention. After all, it’s clear to see that the humor rarely hits the target anymore. In fact, it’s a bit more annoying and inauthentic than anything else.
The humor sometimes has a point, but it rarely delivers that point effectively and instead comes off as juvenile. Even then, it’s very rare to find anything here that’s genuinely humorous. This isn’t what it set out to be and that may not sit right with viewers looking for a comedy romance revolving around a disabled dog.
Since around the end of last season, the series has pushed Colin to the back while the charm has completely disappeared. What we’re left with is not pleasant to say the least. In particular, this episode was hideously written with an over-the-top father figure in a dysfunctional family. Was this meant to be a humorous episode?
Sadly, the series has strayed too far from what it was meant to be. The characters are either belligerent or they’re just over-the-top idiotic. There’s no more charm or humor here and there’s very little Colin.
There’s no goal and no purpose besides putting Gordon and Ashley in one outlandish dilemma after another. Instead, we’re left with a nasty episode and a series that has already become empty after just one successful season.
If losing brain cells is the goal, have at it. Otherwise, time is too precious to waste on such drivel. The episode scores a 2 out of 10.
