Ghost Town – As the episode opens, Tariq (Bamshad Abedi-Amin) tortures Gene Lord (Jack Rowan). Gene pleads with him to give him time to recover his puff. Metin (Yassine Fadel) asks how before reminding him of how he messed up the last shipment. Luuk (Coen Bril) says he talks like a gangster but walks like a nude child. Gene warns killing him will get them nothing. Tariq punches him when Amira (Sarah Shahin) orders them to release him so he can recover their drugs by sunset tomorrow.
Cindy Carter/Mercy Winters (Tahirah Sharif) visits the police department to see Eddie Carter/Eddie Winters (Josh Tedeku). Detective Alfonso (Bruno Sevilla) claims Eddie doesn’t want to see her. She says he is still a minor. He tells her that Eddie is facing drug trafficking charges that carry a mandatory three-year prison sentence. She demands where he will be transferred. He says to their Madrid remand facility before offering to give Eddie his freedom in exchange for her statement on the Escobells’ shooting.
Carly Lord (Eliza Butterworth) visits Leonard Lord (Lex Shrapnel) in the hospital. He denies any memory of the accident. She informs him that Mayor Cesar Cabrol (Marcelo Converti) sent a bouquet of flowers with a note, “Love while we’re alive is the only thing that might save us from death.”
Mint Ma Lord (Martha Plimpton) tells Kelly Lord (Daniel Sharman) to cheer up when Carly points out blood on the entrance door. They enter the house to find a beaten Gene. Albert Lord (George Jaques) and Mint Ma rush over to check on him. Gene says Amira has given them until tomorrow at sunset to return their drugs. Kelly suggests returning to South London before they kill them all. When Gene asks where he was, he claims the radio was “sh*t.”
Gene questions why Eddie was in the truck with the drugs. Cindy informs him of Alfonso’s offer to release Eddie for her statement. He assures her that he will get Eddie released without her suffering.
When Alfonso tells Eddie that DI Lindsey (Leanne Best) is observing his interrogation, Eddie suggests she “f**k off.” Lindsey questions why Cindy left for Spain before his release. She asks where is his father, Clarence Winters (Dwane Walcott). After telling her how Clarence died in a fire, he says Cindy is safe until they have her extradited back to London.
Cindy has a flashback of visiting with young Eddie (Kelly Ogbedor) in prison. Bursting into the police department, she demands proof that Eddie won’t be charged.
Mint Ma informs Gene that Cindy was meeting with someone. He pleads with Albert to help him. Albert assures him that he is always there for him.
Len asks Cabrol why he sent the note. Cabrol apologizes if the caused any problems with Carly before turning to walk away. Irate, Len demands he not walk away from him before smashing a glass on the floor. Cabrol asks if his feelings anger him. He describes him as a “vulnerable soul,” not a violent man. They sensually kiss.
Lola Gitano (Melina Matthews) stops by to see if Kelly has seen Manuela. He denies seeing her since yesterday. Carly says she saw them talking at the beach party. Lola asks if Manuela said anything to him. He claims she mentioned friends in Marbella. Mint Ma threatens him if Manuela is pregnant. He says she isn’t coming back.
Cindy admits she and Gene were at Escobells when Lindsey joins them. She claims Ernesto Alvarez (Ramiro Blas) shot Uncle Tony (Dougray Scott) in the head. Laying her earring on the table, he accuses her of taking Ernesto’s life in the hospital. She admits it was her idea before assuring him that Gene wouldn’t harm anyone.
Albert shows Gene a photo of him and Uncle Tony when they were young. He admits his feelings for him were mixed before busting into the house of Alfonso’s parents. Gene orders Mariana (Isabel Prinz) to contact Alfonso to say they demand Eddie and Cindy’s release. When she refuses, Albert threatens to burn Juan (Job Bermudez) and the house. Cindy asks Alfonso when Eddie will be released when he receives the distress call from his mum. Gene orders him to release Cindy, Eddie, and his drug cargo. Albert threatens to kill his parents if he ignores their demands. Lindsey tells Cindy that she’s only interested in how her and Gene’s relationship. Cindy says it’s impossible to control who you fall in love with. Albert orders Gene to set Juan on fire.
Cindy denies any knowledge of DI Russo (Luke Tumber). Lindsey burns her hand with a cigarette. Alfonso agrees to comply with their demand. Albert orders Gene to pick up Eddie and Cindy while he retrieves the drug cargo.
Kelly shows Mint Ma Manuela’s lifeless body. She says after Manuela is buried, it will never be mentioned again. She says a prayer while he covers up the grave.
Lindsey taunts Cindy when Alfonso says she and Eddie are free to go. She demands to know why he is releasing them. He says “Love knows no bounds.”
Len asks Mayor Cabrol if they see each other again. He says it isn’t his decision to make.
Cindy asks Gene what he did to get them released. Gene says, “The things you do for love.” Eddie thanks Gene before they embrace. Lindsey watches as they drive away. They enter the house to see Albert talking with Tariq. After asking Eddie for a hug, Albert assures Tariq that Gene won’t make the same mistake twice. Tariq apologizes to Gene. Albert suggests they deal with him from now on. Gene toasts Albert for being a true leader.
Carly holds Anthony Lord’s (George Jacques) when Len enters the room. She questions why he didn’t tell her that he was being discharged. He claims to have wanted it to be a surprise. After speaking of his dreams for Anthony, he regrets not raising him.
Cindy thanks Eddie for what he did for her and Eddie. He assures her that he meant it when he proposed to her. He describes Eddie as having more soul than the entire Lord family. They profess to love each other.
Lindsey demands to know why Alfonso released Eddie and Cindy. After informing her that the Lords nearly killing his parents, he suggests she go back to London. She refuses to give up without a fight. He removes his gun from the glove compartment.
Albert tells his family that Diego Gitano (Jose Luis Ferrer) and his family are in the process of organizing a search in the woods for Manuela. Mint Ma says she isn’t our problem. He says their hotel will never develop as long as she is missing. He suggests they put on their best performances before demanding every last one of them join the search party.
Lola thanks the volunteers for helping to search for Manuela when the Lords shows up. Diego thanks them for supporting his family. Alfonso is armed when he joins the search. Eddie tells Cindy that the Lords have done more for him in the last few weeks than she ever did. Gene suggests taking it easy on her. Eddie admits to hiding in the truck with the drugs to try to escape her.
Kelly lights a cigarette when Diego’s dog picks up a scent. Mint Ma gives him a photo of Saint Anthony, “Patron Saint of lost things.” Alfonso attacks Gene while he searches for Cindy. He claims the police worked his drug bust on an anonymous tip from the Lord’s villa. Screams and wails can be heard a short distance away. Len informs Gene that Manuela’s body was found. Cindy watches the commotion when Lindsey puts a gun to her back. She escorts her at gunpoint out of the woods when the episode ends.
A Town Called Malice Review
After the puff is confiscated by the police, Tariq and his men beat Gene. Amira gives him till sunset the next day to get their drugs back. Cindy visits the jail to see Eddie but he declines her visit. Alfonso offers to exchange Eddie’s freedom for her version of the shootings at Escobells. Ignoring Gene’s promise to get Eddie released, she takes Alfonso’s offer. In her statement, she claims to have worked alone when murdering Ernesto.
Gene asks Albert to help him get Eddie out of jail. Albert’s plan to threaten Alfonso’s parents to an inch of their lives works Eddie and Cindy are released. After returning the drugs to Tariq, Albert convinces him to start over with him in charge.
Kelly confesses to Mint Ma that he accidentally killed Manuela. Under her direction, he buries the body in the woods. The Gitano family organizes a search party in the woods. Albert orders his family to join the search. Manuela’s body is discovered in a shallow grave.
Alfonso attacks Gene in the woods. He says the anonymous call that led to Eddie’s arrest and their drugs being confiscated came from his family’s house. Lindsey abducts Cindy at gunpoint after the Gitano family finds Manuela’s body.
