iZombie: Flight of the Living Dead Review

When this episode of iZombie opens, Liv Moore (Rose McIver) and Dr. Ravi (Rahul Kohli) investigate a murder scene. Peyton calls and informs Liv of the death of a sorority girl, Holly Wolf (Tasya Teles). The parachute jump instructor insists something went wrong, since Holly jumped late alongside Lowell. Major pays a visit to Clive and questions about Jerome. Major gives Clive a detailed description of Jerome, before Clive agrees to help push his case up the priority list. Back at the morgue, Liv insists she must find out, whether or not someone did this to Holly, before Ravi cuts open her skull.

At home, Liv and Peyton discuss Holly. While browsing Holly’s Facebook page, the pair watch a video of Holly and Lowell (Bradley James), which gives Liv a flashback. With a little chitter chatter, Liv convinces Clive to bring Lowell in. At the interrogation room, Lowell acknowledges Liv’s awkward name, before they question about his endorsement for jumping. Lowell admits he got nervous, which forced Holly to jump first. Clive leaves during the interview and Lowell speaks about Carson’s (Ryan Hansen) parties.

Clive returns and reveals that the parachute jumping company, Max Rager, actually destroyed the camera footage. Ren Smith (Blair Penner) is interviewed, before Eliza Marquette (Summer Bishil) is interviewed. Eliza insists the footage was destroyed to protect the company and Holly’s family. Carson is interviewed last. They admit Lowell was acting strange and Holly took it upon herself to figure out his problem. It is also revealed that Carson had been sleeping with Holly. Liv sees a flashback of Carson freaking out about Holly and potentially sleeping with Ren. Despite the new information, Clive still isn’t able to call the death a murder.

Clive is ridiculed for taking on the case, before Liv enters and reveals some new startling information, which finally gets the case transferred to homicide. Meanwhile, Peyton and Liv head to Holly’s memorial, where they speak to Major. After the group separate, Liv runs into Holly’s friends, who attempt to throw her out. Liv accuses one of them of drugging Holly, before she takes her leave. While scouring through Carson’s stuff, Liv finds a pad of blank, but pre-signed, prescriptions. She tasks Ravi with discovering information regarding the doctor, before she hangs out with Lowell, who asks her about kicking Holly out of the sorority.

Lowell reveals that the group took shots, before they jumped and that Carson was tasked with pouring the shots. He reveals that he has actually changed, before he makes a mention of zombies. As it turns out, Lowell is a zombie, as well. The pair discuss Lowell’s transformation to full on zombie mode, before jumping from the plane. Major enters and interrupts the chat, before Liv escapes and escorts Major out. Outside, Major continues to express his concern for Jerome. Clive checks out the skate park and asks about Jerome. He learns that a lot of people have disappeared. Clive is shown a whole collection of missing person’s posters.

Liv tells Dr. Ravi about her knew zombie friend. The pair contemplate a new thrilling love life for Liv. They discover that Carson is behind the GHB and he winds up back in the interrogation room, where he asked about his relationship with Ren. Carson insists he had nothing to do with it, before blaming everything on Eliza. He goes on a rant about the company making people go crazy and Eliza trying to keep Holly from going public. Clive attempts to track down Eliza, but she isn’t home and has likely fled.

Afterwards, Clive reports all of the skate park disappearances to his boss, but is told to stick with homicide. The chief tosses some hot sauce in his coffee, after Clive departs. Major confronts Blaine’s zombie buddy and gets smacked around. Lowell pays Liv a visit at the morgue and brings her some hot sauce. Lowell opens up about how sucky it is to be a zombie, while attempting to seduce Liv. Another body is brought in and interrupts the lovebirds.

Review

Well, the episode was pretty good, although not as good as the previous. Unfortunately, I don’t recall seeing Blaine, although we did see his flunky. However, we were introduced to a new zombie, Lowell, who could potentially become a lover for Liv. I really hope that doesn’t happen. Their whole love connection felt forced, as is. I hope the writers are able to avoid turning iZombie into a cheesy romance. The episode deserves a 6.5 out of 10.
