The Walking Dead: Try Review

Pete TWD

At the beginning of the episode, Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) and her husband grieves for their son’s death, while Carol cooks and delivers them some food. Deanna takes the note, but leaves the food sitting outside. She burns the note, while Sasha shoots and kills a zombie from her new post.

Meanwhile, Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Daryl roam the fields and discover the signs of human life. After the introduction, Nicholas (Michael Traynor) speaks to the camera regarding Aiden’s death. Glenn tells a completely different tale to Rick. Deanna watches the footage of Nicholas’s testimony, as he attempts to convince her to get rid of Rick and crew. Afterwards, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) questions Carol, why she cares what happens to Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge), which is certainly a sign of incompetence.

Alexandria Cemetery

The friendly neighbor, Pete (Corey Bill), discovers Rick in a trance-like stance. When he checks on him, Rick tells him to keep walking, which he goes. Afterwards, Michonne and Rosita go on a hunt for Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), who never returned from the tower. As they search through the trees, they agree the atmosphere feels different, before Rosita brings up Eugene and his lies. Next, Rick speaks to Deanna at Alexandria’s cemetery. Rick gets upset, when he finds out Deanna knew about Pete’s abuse. He suggests separating the couple. Deanna shuts down his fantasies, when he offers himself up, as a hit man.

Next, Carl gets caught following Enid (Katelyn Nacon) through the woods. The pair chase each other through the woods, until they discover zombies. With the help of a kitchen timer, the pair make their escape. Afterwards, Glenn confronts Nicholas and tells him he is supposed to be dead, but the walls went up and saved them all. Meanwhile, Carol and Enid stop for a friendly chat. On the way back, the pair get trapped by a horde of zombie. Nicholas appears in the forest and digs up a rusty paint can, which contains Rick’s old gun.

TWD Rosita Michonne

Finally, Sasha emerges and snipes out a horde of zombies, before Rosita and Michonne rendezvous with her. The group revert back to their old ways and kill an entire horde of zombies, before Sasha lashes out at the others. Now, we’re back to Aaron and Daryl in the forest. They discover a zombie that has been perfectly chopped to bits. They travel a little further and discover a zombie, who has been posed in the fashion of True Detective, only with much cheaper production value. Again, the zombie has the M charged on its head.

The Walking Dead Enid Carl

Rick finally visits Jessie, who offers her condolences for Noah. Rick insists Pete much stop and says he can make him stop. Rick leaves and returns to tell Jessie that Sam wanted a gun to protect Jessie. Rick offers to keep her safe and she asks, if he would do this for anyone. He responds with a no and she agrees, before Pete enters. Miraculously, Jessie grows a backbone and tells Pete to leave. Pete and Rick get into a brawl.

The Walking Dead True Detective

Next, Sasha takes to the tower and targets zombies. Rick pulls his gun and tells everyone they don’t get it, while Sasha kills zombies. Michonne hits Rick and shuts him up, before the episode ends.

Review

Sadly, the episode went in an astronomical number of directions, with everyone heading out into the woods just to head out into the woods. The entire episode felt clumsy and rushed, with the dumbed down dialogue leading the way. Try was definitely a try hard, which emulated Pandora’s box. Multiple events were set up, but ultimately nothing led to a conclusion. Nicholas’s gun, Daryl and Aaron’s witch hunt, or anything else for that matter. With that, the episode failed to offer any significant advancement to the story. A 6 out of 10 is an honest score.
