When the episode opens, we see Mark Mardon (Liam McIntyre, Spartacus) and his brother, Clyde Mardon (Chad Rook), make their escape from Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin). Their plane is hit, when the explosion occurs at STAR Labs. In the present, Barry hangs out with Linda Park (Malese Jow) at the bowling alley. Of course, they run into Iris (Candice Patton) and Eddie (Rick Cosnett). Barry attempts to talk Linda into writing a new article on the facility, which is going to go for sale soon.

Afterwards, Mark confronts the coroner (Fred Henderson) and tries to figure out the identity of the cop, who killed his brother. Cisco and Dr. Wells sit around watching old movies, before they receive an alarm about the attack at the morgue. Eddie and Barry are alerted to the situation. On his way to the morgue, Barry sees someone running with him. When he arrives at the morgue, he discovers the coroner dead. After a quick investigation, Barry insists hail killed the man. After they discover and listen to the morgue’s audio system, they find out who the murder was and listen to the coroner telling Mark that Joe killed his brother.

Back at the lab, the group investigates Mark and Cisco gives him the name, the Weather Wizard. After Joe leaves, Barry tells Wells about seeing another Flash running beside of him. Wells insists they’ll investigate it, after they capture Mardon. Iris arrives and Joe convinces the others to keep the information secret. Eddie confides in Iris that he didn’t like the way she behaved with Barry at the bowling alley. He insists something has changed between them and he isn’t okay with it.

Barry questions Joe about his relationship with Iris. Joe insists he cannot do anything about it, until Iris makes the first move. Suddenly, their car is stopped, by Mardon and Joe is nearly struck by lightning, but Barry saves him. At the newspaper headquarters, Mason Bridge (Roger Howarth) provides Iris with information about Stag and photos, which show Wells leaving Stag’s office, before Stag disappeared. Iris apologized to Linda for interrupting their date. Linda insists Iris has feelings for Barry too.

Afterwards, Iris meets Barry for coffee. She questions Barry about Harrison Wells. Barry insists Harrison is a good man and Iris should look elsewhere. Back at STAR Labs, Cisco introduced the Wizard’s Wand, which he believed can slow Mardon. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco question Barry about his behavior and he reveals Iris’s concern about Harrison. Next, Cisco gives the wand to Joe and questions him about his suspicions regarding Wells and Barry’s mom. On his way out, Cisco sees Mardon entering and alters Barry.

The Flash Reverse Flash

After a brief conversation, Mardon attacks and wrecks the police station, before The Flash arrives and stops him with the Wand. However, Captain David Singh (Patrick Sabongui) is injured, after saving Joe from a lightning bolt. At the lab, Cisco questions Caitlin about Wells and contemplated, whether or not he could be involved in the death of Barry’s mother. The pair speculate whether Wells is involved with the man in the yellow suit. Cisco seems to set up a plan to keep Wells out of the lab the following night.

At the hospital, Joe, Barry and David’s fiancĂ© learn about David’s condition, before Joe insists he is going to confront Mardon and end it. Iris insists Linda isn’t right for Barry.

As Cisco experiments with the lab, he discovers the yellow man. Joe and Eddie discover Mardon’s room, before Joe is forced out by the wind. He wakes up handcuffed and a captive of Mardon. Caitlin and Wells share coffee, with Caitlin attempting to stall. Eddie returns to the police station and briefs the cops about Mardon and Joe. Iris discovers the truth and Barry insists he’ll find Joe. Mardon calls Iris and tells her to come to the waterfront, before tossing the phone in the water. She tells Barry and the pair leave, with Barry blowing Linda off on the way out.

Harrison leaves his chair and Caitlin behind, while Cisco inspects the man in the yellow suit, before Wells enters. Finally, Cisco learns about Wells’s true identity and his connection to the Reverse Flash. Wells insists he never meant to kill Barry’s mom, but did want to kill Barry. He suggests Flash’s speed is the key for him returning to his world. Wells kills Cisco. Meanwhile, Iris finally tells Barry how she feels about him and he returns the gesture, before they share a kiss.

While Mardon works up some massive waves, Barry calls Caitlin to figure out how to defeat them. He transforms into the Flash and reveals himself to Iris, before targeting the waves. The Flash runs so fast that he discovers himself back at the beginning of the episode.

Review

As cheesy and silly as the action in The Flash is, I still enjoy it. The series, despite the silly premise, is capable of inciting emotions. This one did an excellent job of that, especially near the end. As a bonus, Spartacus is now a member of The Flash. Definitely nice to see Liam McIntyre getting some more action. The episode was certainly fun and deserves an 8 out of 10.
