The Flash: All Star Team Up

The Flash All Star Team Up

This episode of The Flash starts with about 30 arrests and The Flash being cocky, before Lindsay Kang (Theresa Wong) enters her car and is destroyed by a bunch of bees. Barry (Grant Gustin), Joe and Eddie investigate the attack, before Joe insists Barry needs to remain on good terms with Wells. At Star Labs, the group attempts to investigate the bees, before Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) enters and gives them a lesson on bees. The pair are urged outside, where they meet Smoak’s boyfriend, Ray Palmer, or the Atom (Brandon Routh). Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) agree to take a look at Ray’s flawed suit.

Iris pays a visit to Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), who questions, if he is working with the Flash. Afterwards, Eddie confronts Joe and insists he cannot keep lying to Iris. Still, Joe refuses to allow him to tell the truth. Barry and Smoak enjoy a drink, before Eddie enters. Eddie asks for advice keeping Barry’s secret hidden from Iris, before they agree to dinner. Meanwhile, at Folston Tech, Brie Larvan (Emily Kinney) sends her bees, after another man. Back at Star Labs, Cisco remembers his death, at the hands of Wells. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) informs everyone of another bee attack, before The Flash arrives and finds another victim. The Flash winds up getting covered in bees.

The Flash Stung

From Star Labs, the group uses a defibrillator to jumpstart Barry’s heart. Despite being dead for a little while, Barry heads out to dinner with everyone. Ray surprisingly rented out the entire restaurant. Cisco visits Joe and learns about the victim, who was into robotics. He questions Joe about Barry, who hasn’t been himself, before he has a flashback involving the Reserve Flash. At the dinner, Iris questions Ray and Felicity about their relationship and truthfulness with one another. Barry freaks out and leaves the dinner, before telling Felicity that Wells isn’t who he says he is.

Now, he’s questioning everything and everyone, including Caitlin and Cisco. Iris gets upset and leaves Eddie, which puts a damper on the entire dinner. The Flash rushes back to Star Labs, where he captures a bee, which is actually a robot. Of course, the Bug-Eyed Bandit (Emily Kinney) spies on them through the robot’s cameras. Felicity arrives and discovers that both victims work at Mercury Labs. They head there and speak to Dr. Tina McGee (Amanda Pays). They question her about the victims and she gives them the suspect’s name, Brie Larvan. She also refuses protection from Wells.

Dr. Tina McGee The Flash

Barry meets Felicity, who insists he has to let Cisco and Caitlin help him. She speaks about her relationship with the Arrow and helping him, while relating it to Barry’s relationship with Cisco and Caitlin. When Barry returns home, he discovers Iris, who has moved back in. Barry explains to her that Eddie is likely trying to keep her safe. Back at the lab, they discover that the bees are headed for Mercury Labs. Ray agrees to help stop the bees, while Barry captures the bee lady. The bees infiltrate Mercury Labs, before The Atom arrives and lures them away.

Bug-Eyed Bandit The Flash

Barry speaks to Brie and insists he understands what it is like to be betrayed, before a butt load of bees chase him. Felicity and Brie fight over virtual control of the bees, while The Atom gets rid of his bees. Cisco saves The Atom. Meanwhile, Felicity kills the bees. Cisco saves Ray again, by getting stung by a bee. The Flash arrives and restarts Cisco’s heart. McGee pays a visit to Barry and apologizes to him. Barry questions about the animosity between McGee and Wells. She insists he changed dramatically, after his would-be wife died.

Bees The Flash

Barry speaks to Ray and Felicity, before they depart. Iris speaks to Eddie and insists she understands, but still demands to know the truth and threatens to leave. Finally, at the end of the episode, Joe and Barry fill in Cisco and Caitlin to all of the information regarding Wells. Cisco tells about his visions of Wells and the Reserve Flash.

Review

For an episode, which was supposed to be an “All Star Team Up”, this one felt like an “All Star Screw Up”. Aside from the last few minutes, nothing felt particularly interesting. Felicity Smoak was unbearably annoying and the entire robotic bee villain was underwhelming. The episode could’ve potentially brought over some Walking Dead fans, who were interested in seeing Emily Kinney. As weak as the Bug-Eyed Bandit was, they’d be better off to ignore this one. Suffice to say, the best guest star in the previous episode was followed up by the worst in this one.

At the same time, the episode was plagued with Iris overload. At this point, I doubt anybody wants to see Iris with Barry. It is about time to shut that concept down and move onto something a little more interesting and stop making Iris more and more irritating. The episode deserves a 6 out of 10.
