On the outside, David Potter (Matt Day) has done a good job of climbing the political ladder, while Melissa Partridge (Adrienne Pickering) continues to sell books and parade throughout the media. Wendy Greene (Caroline Brazier) and Fuzz (Keegan Joyce) visit Cleaver in prison and continue fighting for his release with his attorney, Scarlet Meagher (Danielle Cormack). Barney Meagher (Russell Dykstra) has gotten into a bit of craziness himself. He has had a baby with Nicole (Kate Box), but still remains with Scarlet. Suffice to say, the trio have a bit of a cooperative love triangle.

After Cleaver’s new buddy and questionable lover, Malcolm Finnane (Dan Wyllie) is released, things begin to improve for Greene. He learns about “bear-bung” and is able to escape prison and meet up with his old pal. Of course, things begin to turn sour for the recently freed men. Cleaver becomes a sidekick for Scarlet, while Malcolm attempts to try out his singing voice on an Australian talent show, Aussie’s Gotta Sing. After a few misfortunate incidents, Cleaver and Malcolm’s sister, Felicity Finnane (Jane Allsop) join forces to prevent the casinos from infiltrating the city and save two old gentlemen from murder charges.

Suffice to say, the silliness of Rake continues throughout the season, with a little seriousness thrown in for good measure. Cleaver eventually works himself back up to a respectable criminal barrister, but his will and determination will be tested every step of the way. Will he be able to prevent the casinos from bringing corruption into the city? Or, will Cleaver wind up back behind bars?

Review


Rake continues to remain impressive, interesting and hilarious throughout the third season. The addition of brother and sister, Dan Wyllie and Jane Allsop, helps add more dimension to the series. If you’ve enjoyed the first two seasons, you’ll love the third equally. The show continues to remain fresh and will keep all Rake fans entertained, until the very end. Thankfully, this isn’t the end, as Rake has been renewed for a 4th season. The third season is excellent and scores a 9.5 out of 10.
