As the episode begins, Hugh (Rodger Corser) takes a stroll with Penny (Hayley McElhinney). Hugh agrees to let Penny be there for his upcoming operation. As Penny leaves, Harriet (Genevieve Hegney) arrives. Hugh doesn’t seem happy to see her. We quickly learn that Harriet is Hugh’s Vegas wife. He urges her to give him the papers, so he can sign them and she can leave. Hugh returns to the clinic and begins seeing patients. Harriet arrives seconds later and strikes up a conversation with Betty (Belinda Bromilow). Harriet tries to apologize to Hugh. He refuses and insists he is not a victim. Seconds later, they’re kissing. After the intro, Charlie (Nicole da Silva) and Matt (Ryan Johnson) are introduced to the new delivery man.
Both seem smitten with Dan (Mark Coles Smith). Seconds later, Dan leaves and Ajax (Matt Castley) enters. It is clear that Ajax is still bummed out by his breakup with Hayley (Chloe Bayliss). Charlie encourages him to come up with the right apology. At the clinic, Betty reminds Ken (Charles Wu) about their book club. Ken breaks it off, since he has already promised to go out with Mia (Brittany Clark). Then, Betty tells Penny about Hugh’s wife. Hugh and Harriet finish their fling. Hugh makes it clear that he still wants Harriet gone. Before he leaves, he tells Betty to give Harriet the wrong directions. At home, Hayley remains standoffish with Ajax. Meryl (Tina Bursill) becomes very clingy with Jim (Steve Bisley).
Once the meeting ends, Betty speaks with Harriet. They seem to understand each other. Jim says his goodbyes to his family, before preparing for Sydney. At the clinic, Penny confronts Hugh about his marriage. He shows her the divorce papers and admits his marriage will soon be over. Penny meets with Harriet in the lobby. Harriet recognizes that Penny and Hugh have a thing. Hugh tells Harriet that the police are on the way to remove her. She tries to apologize, but he refuses once again. Due to her mother’s chat, Hayley rushes to Ajax and agrees to marry him. Charlie overhears. It seems that Ajax is excited, but Hayley is not. At the clinic, Betty gets angry with Ken. She tries to make Ken distrust Mia. Betty tells Penny about the conversation moments later. Penny suggests that Betty might have feelings for Ken. Seconds later, Jim and the group wait at the airport. On the plane, Penny asks Hugh why he doesn’t let Harriet apologize. He insists he is not her victim.
Meanwhile, Penny learns that Hugh has suffered from a heart attack. While he is out, Hugh has dreams about the women in his life. Matt and the others back home learn about the incident. They agree to rush out to Sydney right away. Harriet arrives at the hospital. She comforts Meryl. Penny sits with Hugh. She learns that he will most likely be just fine. When Penny leaves, Harriet enters and sits with Hugh. He wakes up seconds later and admits he doesn’t want her to leave.
Doctor Doctor Review
Early on, I thought that Genevieve Hegney was a little awkward as Harriet. As the episode dragged on, she seemed to settle down and fit into the role much better. I am not a big fan of the character at this point though. I thought the episode had the perfect combination of humor and emotion. It definitely showed a different side of Hugh and unraveled a little about his missing years in Vegas.
All in all, the episode was enjoyable from start to finish. It scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Doctor Doctor right now!
